Hello everyone,
I've enjoyed reading posts on ECF for about a year now, gaining a lot of knowledge along the way. I thank everyone for their contributions to the forum. This is my first thread.
I started using RBAs a few months ago, and have no interest in using clearomizers anymore due to the quality of vape produced by RBAs, there's no comparison! So far, my best vapes have come from EhPro Kayfun Lite Plus (version 1 and 2) tanks, using 26 and 28 gauge coils, with organic cotton wicks.
I bought a few HCigar Kayfun 3.1 tanks, and decided to try one out last night. I always thoroughly clean new tanks using dishwashing soap and boiling water. After setting up the 3.1 with a new coil, I noticed the readings on my Ohm meter were flashing between 4.1 and 9. I realized this was due to the center post contact screw being recessed too far, causing poor contact with the Ohm meter. I adjusted this screw so that it stuck out a bit, and then then had a solid 0.8 Ohm reading.
The only thing I noticed that was different this time, compared to the other RBAs I've built, was that the center contact screw in the 510 connection was loose (the part that connects to the mod). It was wobbly and very easy to turn. After attaching the the 3.1 to my Hades mod, the coils were not lighting up. When I tried pulsing one more time, the button on the Hades became very hot instantly, causing me to have to drop the device. It shorted out. I took the 3.1 off of the mod, and noticed the 510 connection and that loose screw had burned out, becoming a dark blue and copper color.
The Ohm meter showed a 0.0 resistance before and after removing the coil from the tank, indicating a short. So I guess this tank is done. Hopefully the other ones will be ok. I guess the loose screw caused the short? The coil was built correctly, ensuring the negative wire did not come into contact with the positive deck.
