the last time I asked (about 3 weeks ago) Leaford said they were currently shipping green and blue LEDs on all shorties and there wasn't a big push to get red/orange ones. The two I just got are blue LEDs. That was a while ago though, may have changed (fingers crossed, I want a couple red/orange LED shorties to blend in in a smoking crowd at the bar)

from what i understand from another thread, the LED colors aren't consistent with the type/color of batt. however, you can put in the comments section whether you prefer blue or green and they'll *try* to hook you up. right now the blues/greens are coming a bit mixed up, mark said, which is why it's not offered as an option when you order. (i also prefer the blue and asked for the same reason. ;) )

I just ordered 2 reg size autos (blue and chrome) and asked for blue LEDs in comments. I got green ones and was very disappointed cuz I dislike the green ones. Stuff like that bothers me (I guess Im kinda .... that way). Has anyone had this happen? Did they exchange them? Any suggestions? The guys are so great I just dont want to make a big deal out of LEDs but I really wanted blue LEDs.

Given the choice, I will choose blue LEDs every time. The green doesn't bother me too much though. For me, the important thing is for it to be painfully obvious I'm not smoking a cigarette.

Mark posted that if you request a certain color LED in the comments, they will do what they can. They can't ship what they don't have. On their shelves (& I think in the boxes they receive) the batteries are sorted by color & length, but not LED color.

My blue shorties & XLs have blue LEDs, but my blue reg-length batts have green.

Only if you're very good at soldering and have access to a well equipped soldering station with a strong magnifier.

The LED is very tiny and it is surface mounted on a little round circuit board.

If you want to see it, use a small pair of pliers to gently grip the "ash cap". Twist and pull & it will come out. Activate the battery and you can see how tiny the LED is. You can push the "ash cap" back in with your fingers.

Pumpkin I have ordered two of these at different times and they both had the "Orange" led, not Red. You should add the question or request in the comments section when you order or email Mark or Steve to insure that you get the Orange led if there are different choices available.

So if I order the the white no logo short battery I will get one with a red LED?
