Hey, Guys/Ladies...
I'm a noob, both to this site and e-cigs in general ; I've been doing a lot of reading, and I'm about to pull the trigger on a Prodigy, but I'm not sure which to get. I'm a pretty heavy smoker ; ~3 pks Reds/day + my medicinal herbs. I've got a Vapor Brothers vaporizer that I use occasionally, so I know a little about vaping...

I'm hoping to initially knock down my smoking count, and ultimately kick the analog habit for good. I work from home, in front of the computer all day, so I'm thinking a Prodigy w/a USB adapter should fit the bill nicely ; I'll use the batteries when I go out ( which isnt often).

I need some help on deciding which atomizer to go with: Pen/801 or Mini/901? I susecpt which ever I get will get quite a bit of use. I'm not Sure, but I Think the issue of carts, refilling, etc. will be to be a significant issue, and I dont understand the 'cart stuff' too well.

Please give me y'all advise. This is a pretty expensive undertaking for me, and I'm tring to do it right the 1st time. I'm sure I'll learn from experience, but I'm hoping y'alls experience can help lessen some of my growing pains...

thx,
gator

I don't know if this will help, but I wasn't sure either. I decided to buy an 801 and a 901 adapter. The 801 atomizer is much bigger than the 901. I figured I would use the 801 atty at home and the 901 when I am out and about.

I don't have any experience with either one of those attys though. I have an EVO/M401/Pilot and will probably get the 401 adapter as well in the future. The M401 atty is much shorter than the 901 so I figured it would be less conspicuous.

3 Packs a day of Marlboro Reds? I would suggest you go with the 801 and some high nic liquid.

The 901's are an easier draw and they really cook the juice, but the 801 will give a bigger hit and you wont have to refill/drip as often. In my opinion; that should work better for your smoking type, But who knows? You can always buy the other atomizer and adapter at another time.

As far as how the carts work: The mouthpiece has a cylindar attatched to it that is filled with polyester fibers (much like a cigarette filter). This polyester wad is soaked with the nicotine juice. When you insert it into the atomizer the polyfill transfers the juice to the atomizer and produces the vapor.

Some people prefer to skip the cart and just drip juice right on the atomizer. This gives big hits and big flavor. This can cause regular atomizers and batteries to malfunction, so Beware.

Steve has said that both the Prodigy and the Passthrough are sealed and designed to be "dripper" friendly.

As they say, "I hope that helps"

There are pros and cons to both. The 801 has a bigger cart and will hold more liquid and in theory does not need to be topped off as much. But it is a 4 hole atomizer and the draw IMO, is more like sucking air through a straw and not as much like an analog. I and others have stated that you can not taste the liquid as much in an 801.

The 901 is smaller and needs to be topped off more frequently. But the draw is closer to an analog and you can taste the liquid more consistently IMO. I also think you can get a little warmer vapor in the 901 but again, just my opinion.

I would get the adapter and try them both.

Steve is selling 3 hole 801 attys so it should minimize/eliminate the sucking straw prob.

I went with the 801 prodigy because of the less filling of carts and a 801 Pass thru and ordered adaptors for it so at home I would have a choice. As far as being as close to analogs for me its my 510-loads of warm vapor and great throat hit. I too smoked Reds (a 1-2 pack a day habit) I've been analog free since 4/29.

I'm sure either one would fit your needs.....good luck gator--just take it one day at a time and I'm sure you will get there!!

My experience is the same. In addition, I would get much better and consistent throat hit from 901 than from the penstyle. But I am waiting for the 510 model and I'll get the 901 adapter for it too which will make it possible to use with both, 510 and 901 atomizers.

Why not get the 901 and wait for the 510 adaptor...wouldn't it be the same?? Thats what i did with the 2nd run of PTs, ordered a 901 cuz I wanted the 6ft cord (I ordered the 801 on the first order with the 3ft cord) then I ordered the 510 adaptor for it (and the 401 too, lol). I'll be able to use them all on the PT and I'll order the 510 adaptor for the Prodigy when its available!!

Steve is making the Prodigy/PT verrrrry versatile which I appreciate!

I was thinking about doing that, but I am just little nervous about the 510 adapter not being made -- what if Steve finds some problem why the 510 atomizer can't fit or something like that? I just don't want to go back to 901 full time after using 510 for the last few weeks. And if the 510 adapter doesn't get made I don't think I will be able to return the used Prodigy...

He's already made the PT adaptor so I wouldn't worry too much about him not being able to do one (510) for the Prodigy. So far he has managed to overcome a lot of obstacles and figure it out. I'll let you know how the 510 adaptor workks on the PT.

Yeah thats awesome....a made in America atty, a dream come true!!
