Hello,
I quit smoking about 6 months ago after smoking for more than 20 years. I am going crazy wanting to smoke more now than before. However I am committed to not smoking traditional cigs again but am thinking about vaping. Our local fair is in town and they are selling the J103 which I researched is from China and ordering future accessories I think is from China as well. My main question is I don't want to use nicotine since that will defeat all the hard work I have done to get off the stuff. Any suggestions of a good ecig unit to buy that will allow me to be able to use and buy 0 nicotine cartridges? I asked the guys at the fair if they could sell me 0 nic cartridges only but they said No since they sell starter kits which include high to none nic cartridges. I will go an hour before the fair closes to see if I can get the unit cheap since I’ve never vaped and am not sure if it will be worth the hassle. Reading this forum seems to disclose a lot of problems with the units and the difficulty involved with ordering parts. I definitely don’t want this to lead me back to smoking real cigs but think it would be cool to use during special occasions and really rough times.
Thanks

Just buy a starter set from somewhere. Order some empty carts or rinse out the ones that come with it. Order some 0 nic eliquid and refill carts with it. Eliquid is typically cheaper than buying pre-filled carts anyway.

CONGRATZ on quiting smoking. Wish i could have done it without keeping the nicotine, but with time hopefully that will come also

There is your answer. Don't start. If you do, I imagine the temptation to go for "just one" when the cheap fair version quits on you will be over powering. JMHO. :)

If you MUST try one, I would strongly suggest you NOT get one at the fair. If it quits the day after they leave town, good luck getting anything replaced. Also, those fair/mall/kiosk types are not worth the money.

Also, no nic juice is easy and cheap to make, you can get all the supplies at your local pharmacy (ok, not the flavors...) but you can get that. Check the DIY forum for recipes and ingredients.

But I really encourage you not to do it. It can become an addiction, and you've managed to break that once already.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

I'm not sure what a J103 is, but you can refill most e-cig carts with whatever you want. You can buy 0 nic juice from some vendors or mix it yourself with supplies found at a local craft store (like Michaels or Hobby Lobby). If the cig is a 3 piece (battery, atomizer, and cartridge) it's really simple. If it's a 2 piece (battery and cartomizer) I think it can still work, but I've never tried so I can't say for sure.
If the ecig you buy comes with pre-filled cartridges, you can pull out the filling, rinse it out, and fill it with 0 nic juice. It's really simple.

You are right. I think that if I start using the e cig that the temptation for a real cig might be too great causing me to smoke again. It was hard enough to quit as it was and I surely don't want to put myself through all that again.
I do have to say that I miss smoking and guess I always will. The best to you.

Vaping hasn't made me go back to smoking, and I use zero-nic.

Hope that helps.

Very Cool. That's what I like hearing. The need to smoke is so great sometimes but I continue to not smoke. I think the idea you have is great and truly inspiring. Keep up the good work. Is their an easy to find link to making my own 0 nic juice? What are the best e cig units? My biggest fear is that if my e cig breaks or dies I might be tempted to smoke a regular cig. That would be awful. Well ... we shall see. Thanks and I wish you the best. Congrats on quitting smoking. It was pretty much the hardest thing I'd ever done.

This would be my worry as well.

I'm not going to lie to you . . . the equipment can be finicky. Atomizers die for no reason (and do so suddenly with no advanced warning). Atomizers that are functioning beautifully start to degrade in performance, and before you know it, they're just putting out whisps of whimpy vapor. Batteries lose their charge suddenly or switches get stuck.

Vaping is not a trouble-free hobby.

For me, the hassles are TOTALLY worth it. I know that the day I stop vaping is the day I will probably pick up the stinky sticks again. That gives me ENORMOUS incentive to make this work. I have backups for my backups because I never want to smoke again.

I'll say it bluntly . . . I am addicted to vaping. I vape so that I don't smoke. I have replaced one addiction with another.

Now, don't get me wrong . . . I'm perfectly happy switching my KNOWN TOXIC addiction to burning tobacco for something that I feel is much safer. But if you've already kicked the addiction to smoking, why put yourself in a situation where you'll potentially get addicted to something else? Especially given the precarious situation that e-cigs are in right now, with concerns about the FDA on the war path . . . .

Frankly, I'd steer clear of these unless I knew that picking up an e-cig was the only way to stay off of tobacco.

But that's me. You're an adult. You can make your own decision. :)

I chewed the gum for months and months dying for a cig, I went back to smoking. Trying to stop smoking is torture, I have heard so many stories of people craving a cig 20 years after they stop. With my 401 I no longer crave a cig, and I am not chewing gum 24/7. chantex is to risky and I know people that have flipped out taking it. A e-cig is much better to try than suffering, or risking long term health issues from chantex.

Hey too much.... As others have said.. don't start!!!! Vaping is not smoking and may not settle that 'smoking urge but will surely put nicotine back into your body unless you go for a 0 nic juice. Since some juices are made from tobacco extract 0 nic may not be 0 nic. Johnsons Creek says they are using synthetic so that may be your best option or just get some Vegetable Glycerin and flavorings.

The PV is not the end all be all to smoking as you can see from this post:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...on/32913-lol-battling-monster-i-won-time.html

BUT it sure makes it easier not to :)

I want to add something that I don't think I was clear about earlier.

For me, the addiction to smoking was at least partially about the nicotine . . . but it was primarily about the physical act of lighting up, inhaling something of weight into my lungs, and then exhaling.

I can go very long stretches vaping no nicotine solutions without much of a problem, but I cannot go long stretches simply not vaping.

When I say that I am addicted to vaping, I honestly don't think I'm addicted to the nicotine so much as the physical act of vaping. And that is why I'm thinking that even if you stayed with no nicotine solutions, you run the risk of smoking again if you decide vaping is more trouble than it's worth or if your equipment craps out unexpectedly.

For me, vaping is for folks who can't otherwise beat the smoking addiction. I tried EVERYTHING, including old-fashioned will power, and this is the ONLY thing that has worked.

For you, you've obviously got a great deal of will power. You have something that's working for you. Keep it up. Don't pick up vaping unless you KNOW that the only other alternative is smoking.

Just my two cents . . . .

I would actually say get some e-cigs and non-nic carts and liquids for the times when you feel you are losing the battle and are about to bum a cig or go out and buy a pack. I quit 15 years ago but still feel the strong compulsion to smoke, not to get nicotine. Of course before e-cigs, my only option was to smoke and that's precisely what I inevitably would end up doing here and there. Now I can survive having a drink and being around people smoking because I can vape instead of begging them for a cig. I've gone years between cigarettes so it's not as simple as "you've gone this long so you can keep going" all the time.
