Should I start stocking up?

With all this crap I'm reading about the FDA, are they moving to regulate this soon. Should I buy like 20 batts and like 45 evods and like a bunch of kanthal and wick? Oh yeah and like a gallon of eliquid???? I get really nervous. I don't want to start smoking again but probably would if I couldn't vape. That freaks me out.

There is already a thread covering something similar. IF the FDA decides to mess with things, they probably won't put anything out to take immediate effect, so there will be some time. Some people have already started stockpiling making some stuff (mostly DIY) harder to get but it is still available. I'm not going to stockpile......yet. I imagine next week's CASAA meeting with the FDA may give a hint at what is coming, if anything.

I'm not worried. Every since i started vaping I crave nicotine less and less. Hell, in the mornings all i used to think about was my morning cig. Now, sometimes i forget to vape before i take a shower. That never used to happen. Currently, I am only vaping because I can. If they take that away from me then I will quit but i will NEVER go back to analogs.

I wish. I still vape when I wake up and then vape pretty much all day. I am dropping my nicotine needs but I just love it. If it went away I would probably freak.

Nicotine base is what I'm nervous about. If that becomes unavailable or taxed through the roof then that's gonna be a problem. I've already started stocking up on that.

Rebuildable coils like evods, protanks, and others should suffice in the event those become scarce, expensive, or whatever. Wick and wire will always be available I'm assuming. Plus you can use cotton for wicking material. A couple rolls of 100ft Kanthal and a few bags of cotton balls would last a long, long time.

I'm doing some DIY liquid and trying to get that perfected so as long as I can get flavoring I'll be good.

A few eGo batteries would be good (quite a few). Or maybe a Vamo or something similar which has replaceable batts.

I fully anticipate some sort of regulation and/or taxation is forthcoming. It's just a question of when and to what extent. Money and greed are powerful motivators.

Even if severe regulation takes place, a period of months will go by before they go into effect.

Availability of nicotine will be the item you should be most concerned about. How available it will be, and in what forms, is the big question mark. The tobacco companies are thought to want nicotine to be sold only in tamper proof (child resistant) cartomizers. This would be of no use to vapors who use liquid nicotine in other juice delivery devices, and would give them a monopoly as a supplier. Others believe nicotine e-liquid will have specific restrictions on manufacurers which may put many of the smaller mom & pop businesses out of business.

I doubt that battery devices or juice delivery devices will be affected, although many vapors will continue to stock up "just in case" and probably create artificial shortages. Probably not a bad idea to own and know how to use a rebuildable atomizer (RBA) for a worse case scenario - batteries, wire, SS mesh and silica will always be available as they have other uses other than for vaping supplies.

DIY e-liquids, such as vegetable glycerin (vg) and propylene glycol (pg) and flavoring agents will always be available. Availability of concentrated nicotine e-liquid will likely be an issue. If you were to stock up on anything, that should be your first priority.

Even with tolerable restrictions on nicotine liquid, expect it to be taxed much the same as cigarettes are now.

This. Very much this. Get yourself an RBA and a ton of nic and you're good to go. That said, stocking up on the other stuff couldn't hurt. I panicked when the FDA was after us four years ago and bought tons of stuff. It helped out when I didn't have money for supplies.

I wouldn't say I have been panick buying but I have been preparing. I heard about all this right after I first started vaping and it scared the tar out of me. So I started doing my homework and figuring out how I could cope with a possible vapocalypse without going back to the stinkies.

WHat follows is my own personal plan of action. There are many options people can take this is just mine.

Started DIY juice and began dropping my nic levels. I will be down to zero nic before the oct deeming comes. I agree with Badatude the nic is the choke point. So I have enough to get me to zero with a fair bit left over in case that takes me longer than expected.

I have 3 Mechs and 2 big battery mods. The big battery mods will not last forever. The mechs are simple devices I can repair myself if necessary. That said do NOT mess with Mechs until you do your homework on batterys and know how to run them safely.

I have 3 rebuildable dripping attys and 4 rebuildable tank systems (glass and metal) + extra parts for them. I have taken the time to learn to build coils for them and run the SAFELY. Alot more homework on doing this. Do not dive in without a good understanding of what you are doing, battery safety, Ohms law and how to use a multimeter.

I also have quite a stockpile of stuff I tried in the last 4 months that I didn't particularly love but can make work in a pinch should the vapocalypse come. clearomizers and extra heads (many of the heads can be rebuilt). Carto tanks and cartos. Ego batterys and 808D batterys etc.

With this setup I figure I can vape for years without issue. :)

:thumb: This!

RBAs (rebuildable atomizer tanks and drippers) are advanced delivery devices that require some fundamental knowledge on atomizer resistance and Ohm's Law, the correct batteries to use with them, and proper safety measures to practice whether you use them on mechanical or regulated battery devices.

Much of the information you would need to know is in this blog article that I wrote, Advice and Tips for Vapors Looking to Try Their First RBA" - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-tips-vapors-looking-try-their-first-rba.html

I did stockpile for the first year I vaped. I had batts a bunch, VG&PG by the gallons, 3 ProVari's, and clearo's by the gross. Then. . .I quit vaping. Go figure. That was my intent when I started, but I really didn't think I could do it. But. . .my last vape was Feb 6th this year. Yup. . .I'm a Quitter.

Cheers,

The black market will thrive. Suburban house moms will meet my sketchy neighbors at night for Trunk Juice. Electronic repair men will be worshipped. Vials of nicotine solution will be left at park benches and a man with kids to feed will get a text on a burner phone telling him where to pick up.

It'll be fun.
HAHA me and my buddy were just talking about something like this, gut my bro's RV and mix out in the desert. We shall call it Vaping Bad!!

The run on nicotine liquid has already begun. Wizlabs can't supply enough, juice vendors going out of stock... I'll just sit here and wait quietly.

When the prices and availability come back to normal levels, then I might buy few hundred mls of nic base, but I don't want to be part of the hedge and artificially increase the prices now, before we even have a timetable of events.

We'll know well in advance before something happens with the FDA - plus I am near the border, you can get anything in Mexico if you try hard enough.
