Tara,
The ego system is phenomenal. There are so many options and mods. I have been using the ego-t from close to the time they appeared, and I will agree, this system has a bit of a learning curve. There were many problems that others have reported that I never, or almost never had. Ego-t's main problem is that if you want to keep at it, you will eventually have to learn to do the wick mod, the proper cleaning procedure, switch to the soft cap, etc. For some it is too much trouble, I only started down that route because I really like the system and since I used it a lot, I eventually had to start fixing things or get new attys. I went with fixing since attys are not cheap enough to just throw out.
My point is, now that you have the system, you have lots of options. If you are not happy with the tank system and want a minimum of fuss, try the CE2 XL revision 5. This will fit right on your batt and you can even get a cone to help protect it and it will look better. There are clearomizers and many other carts that work with the ego-t batt. Just for a change of pace, I have been using CE2-XLr5 carts, clearomizers, CE3 carts (bottom feed), dual coil carts, and other different types of the CE family. Feeding and caring for the CEs are pretty easy once you have done it. Flavor is great, vapor is excellent, and TH is very good. I don't like the clearomizers as much as they can have more leaking problems, but the steel XL ones are wonderful. If at some point I decide to replace one, I just salvage the wick (for my ego-t mods) and toss it. At around $8.50 for 5, they are truly disposable, and if you are like me and keep cleaning them periodically, they will last for a very long time.
There are just a few tricks to the CE2s. Watch the videos on pulling up the bottom ring that allows for more flow and see how to fill it. The rest is cake. I have CE2XLr5s that are still working fine after more than 30 refills, so in the end, when I decide to start a new one, I don't care too much about it. Some liquid will need to be thinned a bit so that wick flow is good and not giving you burned hits (dry wick). Other than that, it is probably one of the best carts out there with a minimal of fuss.
Last note: you just need to find out what works best for you.
tanks, carts, CE's, etc. All require some amount of maintenance, unless you can afford to just throw them out when they get fouled. I am fooling around with a CE3 and have really enjoyed it also. Because I have always enjoyed the Ego-t A, and can do all the mods, it is my go to, but I enjoy changing my routine, but to tell you the truth, I have been using CE-XLs much more lately and have really enjoyed them, much better that carts ever were. Tank types (ego-t, CE) for me are much better as there is really no waste and the flavor is excellent.
The LR atty, the way I see it, is a very personal preference, some swear by it, others hate it. You could always get an LR for your ego-t and see if you like it. You already have the tanks, just swap the reg atty for an LR atty. But don't throw out your batts, there are a ton of options that they can be used with.
Good luck, hope this helps.
