All the Kayfun hoopla has me curious. But I'm generally happy with the devices I have now. Is it worth the fuss compared to a carto tank or a PT? Anyone want to talk me into or out of a KF clone? I do rebuild coils for my drippers and PTs already, but rebuilding isn't something I enjoy doing.
They are better than your PT, but not as good as your drippers. Falls in between the two for building as well. Far easier than a PT - a bit more fiddly than a single coil dripper, but not quite there... so your call if it's worth the trouble.

I was going to get a KFL+ clone. The problem is I don't want to order from fasttech or any other China based seller. Problem is, to get a Tobeco or EHPro version from a US retailer you are looking at $40-$50 and I have heard great things about them and terrible things about them. A local shop is getting them in soon and they are going to be $95, so I figured it would just be the safer route to just get the real thing.

If the price was more competitive I think it would be well worth it, but for me, it's worth it t spend the extra $50 and get something I know is going to be machined and assembled correctly.

I have one real Kayfun Lite and two Kayfun lite clones. My clones are made by Tobeco and are in my opinion much better than any of the other clones by far. I have had all the different clones in my hands and took them apart.
The only difference in my real one and my Tobeco clones is that the Tobeco clones have adjustable airflow like the new Kayfun Lite Plus.
The parts on my three units will interchange and are identical.
I purchased by clones on Ebay for $39.49 each with free shipping. If you go this way, be careful to make sure you are getting the ones by Tobeco.
There is a very large post of over 500 pages on them in this forum and the info applies to both the real ones and the clones.
I have tried may different devices and the Kayfun Lite style is my best vape.

I own the tobeco kf clone and I am very happy with the purchase. If you do pt rebuilds I find it easier in the way you attach the coil and not much rubber pieces to wear out. Just orings and the tobeco comes with spare parts too. I think it's a solid build and enjoying the vape with a 1.5 ohm micro coil and cotton on my mech. Flavor seems better and hold more juice. Good design and quality so far. Make sure you clean it before your first build.

I have a R91%, 3 tobeco clones(2 from ebay, 1 from chinabuye) and the KF 3.1 clone from FT. I also "have" a genuine KFL+ which got seized by customs(ecigs are banned here)

According to reviews the R91% is just as good as the real deal. That said, comparing the clones to the R91, the one i like the most is the 3.1 clone. The only thing i don't like about the other clones is that they have a whistle a little bit and that must be the position of the airhole compared to the russian or the 3.1 clone.

OP, i used to love cartotanks above all else, but after using kayfuns i never looked back. I use a microcoil with cotton and just replace the cotton every sunday. The first coil i made for the R91% lasted a month until i decided to make a new one.

They are going to sell the clones for $95 when you can get an authentic one online for $99. That makes perfect sense...

They are getting in the authentic KLF+ in, which they will sell for $95, not a clone. Sorry if that wasn't entirely clear. You can remove the face palm now.

The way you wrote it made it look like the shop was selling the clones for $95, which would be absurd and definitely worth a face full of palm on their part. If it's the real deal, then go for it. It's worth it.

KFL+ here. Beats the heck out of a Protank or any variant.

Not sure about comparison to drippers, but it seems with the precisely controlled air intake / coil position, it's a very easy build, and creates masses of vapour, which tastes very rich. I'm sure you can get similar effects with a dripper, but even then you've not got a ~4ml tank attached.

I say: Go for it, it's great.

The kayfun lite and Russian 91% are clones as much as protank and davide

they are both of the same quality the Russian is not meant to be a lesser quality cheaper knock off

In fact the Russian was an improvement on the original kayfun lite adding the airflow

both are quality products

Just understand that the KayFun/Russian isn't for everyone. A like build in other types of RBA's will run cooler than they do in a KayFun.
So if you like a warm hard TH, you will like a KayFun, but if you like a softer TH, you probably won't.
I found the taste to be pretty good, vapor production was great, but the TH was not to my liking.

    rounding third and heading home...
i have them all and with the right build they are superior to any protank(and similar clearos). the flavor comes alive in the kayfuns unlike any clearo. they are easy to work on and can take a variety of different builds(microcoil/cotton, wire and wick, wire and hemp, etc.) i am not convinced the hcigar 3.1 isn't a full sized russian under another name- it is quite good. for ranking(from worse to best) i would put them-
    rocket
    tobeco
    ehpro
    kayfun lite
    kayfun lite +
    hcigar
    russian 3.1
    russian 91%
YMMV but they are definitely worth a try and you can always give/sell it if you are not impressed. i have given away all my clearos since using these devices......

I love my Kayfun lite +. Love it. I don't have a clone Kayfun but I do have many other clone rebuildables and I would be wary of getting a clone Kayfun just because the build quality is essential in it not leaking and all my clones are built like crap. I hear great things about the Tebeco clone and I would think that for $45 they could do a good enough job in the manufacturing . .but the $12 rocket? I'm very scared.

I've been rebuilding pro-tanks for a while and messing around with clone drippers - The Kayfun is so much better performing and so much easier to build that I honestly have no problem with the $95. I'm usually really critical of expensive gear and the Kayfun lite + costs twice as much as my next most expensive piece - but I feel like it's worth it because the quality of build translates directly into ease of use and performance.
