Should I use this battery for my setup?

Hey there ECF members, I've been doing a ton of research on sub ohm vaping and have recently found an interest in it. I'm planning to do a dual micro coil build on my nimbus clone and was wondering what kind of battery I should use. I had the AW IMR 18650 1600mah in mind because I heard that they were safe and very consistent. However, I would like some more opinions considering I am still new at sub-ohm vaping. On my nimbus clone, I am going to be using 28g Kanthal A-1 for my coils and 100% organic cotton balls for my wick. I'm thinking of building a .4 - .5 ohm dual micro coil set-up, any pointers on what kind of battery I should be using? I have a king clone (mechanical mod).

I would not recommend getting into sub ohming yet until you get some experiance with building regular coils.. On the other hand, I cant stop you from doing what you want to do!

My opinion would be get some Sony 18650 batteries 30Amp. Those are what most sub ohm builders are using and thats what I was recommended to use by experianced builders as well.

^ what reign said, I took my time and learned to build on less drastic coils. 1.2-1.5 ohm, which for 90% of the vapers out there are perfect for. Subohm has sort of grown as a sport and a dangerous one at that. Now that im more seasoned at building. I have ventured into subohm and played with many options. I found .8-1.0 ohm is my sweet spot, have gone as low as .25 but there was no flavor at that point it was more of i wonder how it is.

as for the battery you asked about the aw imr 1600mah 18650 has a limit of 24 amps. I still use that but mostly the sony vtc4 which is a 30 amp battery, the more amps it can handle the better I feel about it working so close to my face.

Thanks lucky and reign, I will look into the sony 18650 30amp and will definately try regular dual coils before the micros. For future reference, any ideas on a reliable website to order them from?

I will give give those less drastic coils a try and see how they go! I keep needing to remind myself that patience and experimentation is key when it comes to sub ohm vaping and I cant just jump right in. Thanks for all the help guys, cant wait to start building!

Along with knowledge......................I would recommend watching RipTrippers videos on coil building on Youtube. Not only because he has many different builds, but provides a closeup view as well of the build and what not to do to prevent shorting, etc. Whether you're building a .3 ohm coil or a 2 ohm coil, a short is a short and is equally dangerous for any and all builds (battery type aside)

Microcoils are easy to build the dual coils need to have the same resistance to yield the outcome you desire regular coils are a pita they have to be evenly spaced and cannot touch if I were you I would start with a single microcoil to get comfortable with it
