Hawkeye,
The fireworks were definitely my favorite part, too!

LOL about the seasonings... to me, those aren't really seasonings.... except for the soy sauce part. salt and pepper goes on everything, no matter what and lemon goes on fish.... unless it's fried, then skip the lemon and load up on the tartar sauce! I was thinking of seasonings as cajun blackened or some such, something really strong that takes away from the flavor of the fish...

Fair enough. But I am not a huge tartar sauce fan. I still use lemon on fried fish. But when cooking at home, unless I'm in a mood, rarely do I use more than salt, pepper, lemon, and maybe some garlic. Oh, and olive oil for as much as I can. I will usually buy a huge pack of chicken breasts and then slather them in olive oil, add salt and pepper, then right onto a hot skillet. Cook until done. On the first flip I will squeeze at least a full lemon over them. Once done, they become leftovers to take to work. My coworkers all eat the same boring ham sandwich or micorwaved junk for lunch every day. I spend the same or less over time, and have chicken, some kind of fairly fresh vegetable, and usually some rice of some kind. Affordable lunch to take to work doesn't have to be dull and boring ... you just need to spend an hour or so a week making something yummy. :)

Hawkeye,
That sounds great and smart!!! My Mom used to make up "care packages" for me back in the day. She cooked extra and froze up some portions for me that I got to take with me.... I miss that... I think my fave spice has to be turmeric. It is really good for you, too. We have a bottle of organic and it's half gone already. You can do a lot with it, just like the lemons which tenderize....

I get that sk......but exactly how does that make a difference in a contest like this when the winning entry is completely subjective?

They never said it was subjective. Odds are they'll pick a random post. The criteria for the post just makes it interesting rather than just posting "I am entering this contest".

You mean there was a CONTEST going on??? I thought it was just a bunch of people with nothing to do on the 4th shooting the breeze... :D

Oh yes, and Good Morning 'after' everyone!! My whole place smells like Curry... LOL!!

vaping away all morning, love love love loving my new Vision clearo (much better than my previous one! long-wick & easier draw = happy girl!!). Finally got the boy awake too...alas, he's now glued to his machine (& his eGo, haha!). Gonna make some, well, I guess it'll be breakfast, since it's the first meal of the day, even if it is nearly 12:30pm... ;)
