Naah. You can get into pens without spending much money. Look, for example, at the TWSBI. It's under $50 and it's awesome.
Nice collection you have there..... At one point in time i had a few calligraphy pens..... Thats when I realized i had no skill in fancy writing and a less than accurate grammar to back it up..... Could never get a pen with a good spell check.....

These are my writing instruments of choice, the Cross Century chrome pen/pencil set. I like Cross pens, very elegant.
I also have a Nokia SU-1B Anoto digital pen for sending e-mails and MMS messages, this fulfils my gadget fix
