OK, so after 28 years of smoking, I have moved to the vape (even though I still smoke abhout 6 cigs a day - down from 20!). Went to a vape store and a customer there recommended the Siegel ZMax (variable everything and stuff I don't understand). I originally bought a Vivi Nova tank bought found after about 3 weeks the threads stripped and the tank would wobble and/or tilt at an angle that drove me crazy. tank used an attomizer (sp?) with wicks. Went to a different place and they set me up with a plastic tank that uses cartomizers, of which are Boge 510 SS LR XL. I think they are at 1.8 ohm. I have no idea what the heck I am doing. Is this a good tank? Is there a better one for the Zmax? Can I run at 5.0v or higher on a 1.8 cartomizer? Any thoughts on getting a better system going other than replacing the Mod?

Thanks!

I did, yes. The first place I went to was a complete zoo, very crowded and same guy was helping 4 of us. He recommended the Zmax, which I like, but the features were not explained. He also recommended the Nova, which worked great for a while, but there is not support for the tank other than the threads. The second place was much quieter and the guy there explained how to prime a cartomizer and also recommended the tank, and recommended I run at 3.7v to 3.9v. I seem to get a better hit at 5, but what will happen to the carto if I burn it higher, or even go tp wattage rather than volts? Will it just burn out faster? If I am looking for a new tank that uses an atty, how do I know if it will fit my mod? How can you tell whay tips will fit?

first off, it's sigelei. if it's the sigelei zmax v3 flat top telescoping(which I have and love) get a kanger EVOD bottom coil tank. they work great and when they screw into the zmax they go down below the edge and and you are less likely knock it around- it will stay straight. you really need to go to you tube or get a person to explain the mod to you. if this was your first foray into vaping than they should have done a much better job explaining the zmax to you before unleashing out on your own. try you tube- type in your device and see if there are any videos with your device and how to use it. be aware, a lot of reviews are " look at me, I have a camera and device watch me vape-aren't I cool? ", but there are good instructional videos if you watch enough. it's sitting through the lame ones that is a pain. if nothing else, go back to the shop and MAKE them explain everything until you're comfortable.

That is awesome, thanks. I have been on You Tube several times and agree that several are quite lame, but I have learned quite a bit more about my device than when I bought it. Still learning though. A second question: since the mod is somewhat cumbersome, what would you recommend for an easier to carry e-cig that is somewhat inexpensive but works well?

you might not find it too cumbersome if you put an 18350 battery in it.

that said, i usually tote one of the following around:
ego mini VISION Mini eGo with Key Ring 400mah - BLACK [gv-VisionMinieGo400mah-BLACK] - $14.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more
a lot of places sell these. pretty small with a CE4 or smaller (vision nano) clearo
gripper: Gripper
i love this thing. it's designed to use cartos but can use clearos with the adapter they sell.less than 4" from bottom to top of drip tip with a carto. good value if you don't mind topping off cartos.

Welcome , and I use the rule of 2 for the voltage settings . So , if the carto / Clearo , atomizer , your using is , say 2 ohms, then 2 + 2 + 4 volts . A 1.8 ohm device .1.8 + 2 = 3.8 volts . So yes 5 volts really is a bit much for that device . You can probably push it to 4.2 volts , but any further than that , and you will probably pop the coil . Good Luck . And by the way whether V2 , or the V3 , Flat top , or round top , the Sigelei Zmax is a great VV/VW device . I have two of them ( V3's ) both the Flat version , as well as the round one .

I think for out -and-about any of the dial or spinning batteries are a great choice- the vision spinner or ego twist, or anything like that. you can get various sizes and they work with anything. they make for an easy carry and they look great with the metal ring adapter for the larger vivi novas or protanks, etc. you can get a lanyard to hang it around your neck so its always close for a vape. I have the vision spinner and I find i'm using it more and more, especially when i'm on the go.

I have the Z3 flat top and have enjoyes it so far. Another noob question - you said the Kanger EVOD bottom coil will work great, and I have found a couple of sights that sell them, but now am confused about the threads. 510 v. eGo etc. I presume by your post that the Kanger EVOD will screw onto the Zmax without the use of a 510 adapter? Saw a lot of chatter about that. Also, does Kanger only make glass EVOD's or is there somewhere I can get a plastic one, or one that won't break so easy if I knock my mod over.
