Sig firing at high voltage

So this is kinda scary for me and I'm not sure how to even label what happened. I'd like to understand a bit better so I came to the experts. Here's the deal.

When I first fired my Sigelei 150 this morning (the old one not the TC one) it was set at 80 watts which is my preferred setting. I've had it for a year now and it has always been a great mod. Anyway the hit was really freaking hot. I hit a few more times and realized it was at 80 watts but reading over 7volts and a higher ohm than the coil. I played with the wattage a bit but it stayed high. I turned it off, changed batteries and fired again. It was fine. Back to 80 watts at 3.7 volts. Just for the heck of it I put the other batts back in and they fired normally as well.

Why did this happen, what happened and what should I do about it? I pitched the batteries and changed the coil but I'm wondering if I should pitch the mod too. When it comes to vaping I prefer to err on the side of caution.

I'm using:
Sig 150 mod without TC
smok TFV4 mini tank
TF-Q4 .15 ohm quad coil
Two 18650 Sony US18650VTC4 2100mAh High Discharge Flat Top purchased from Illum.com

I think I have a good and relatively safe set up but I honestly don't understand voltage, wattage, ohms law etc so I rely on what I read here to guide me. Any guidance would be appreciated .

If this is in the wrong forum I apologize but since I'm not sure if it was a mod, battery or coil issue I couldn't find it more specific forum.

This same thing happened to me back when I had a tfv4 and a ipv3li. It was the hottest hits I ever felt and it was terrible. Every time I hit the fire button the resistance and voltage would jump like crazy. My friend put his subtank on and it was totally normal. After that I had no more issues, but it was a really weird problem. I think it has something to do the connection. Try a different tank, different mod, to see if it changes. Maybe look into a new mod. I have the laisimo 200w touch screen and it's awesome and came down a lot in price on line. Maybe around 80 bucks now
