That's messed up. Damn near unconstitutional. Somebody needs to start a petition to reasonably regulate the tax across the board

What you think you know, could get you hurt. In the city of Chicago cigarettes cost around $13 a pack, for 20 cigarettes! The City, State, and Feds have messed me up pretty good in the past, so I weigh all the options and decide where I'm going to stand.

I was a system administrator at a biotech in Silicon Valley. The co I worked for hired me to remove and provide project management oversight for the removal and replacement of 100% of their systems, computers, networks, telephones, and cabling and replace it. They offered me a nice sum with raises, milestone bonuses and a signing bonus, to oversee the project while 60 scientists went about their every day operations in genomics research. The co had a Chinese Dir of Bioinformatics, who I caught stealing, I was to get a bonus for catching him. I didn't get any of it. I complained TWICE on Yahoo Financials, and the FBI started to crank call me. They did not like what I posted. After a couple weeks, I got fed up and threatened the caller, an FBI agent, and they called me in for an "interview," wherein they threw me around for an hour. I lost $35k due to the ineptness of the FBI who told me I did not have a Bill of Rights and to sue them if I wanted the monies.

I trust people to do what is in their best interest. Period. Fend for yourself, or do not. It is up to you.

RE [edit]: the City of Chicago raised taxes $775 million on those within city limits. Democrats in control of the city for the last 60+ years put them in the hole billions.

I think they're headed to at least $14 with the new taxes. Now you see why I took up vaping, and then they taxed that too... new tax Jan 1, 2016 is $1.25/ml if you can believe it. I quit buying anything in Chicago. Plus I'm stocking up.

Are Chicago vape stores actually collecting $37.50 per 30ml bottles in tax? there has been very little news about this in 2016.

Charging $1250 in tax on a $50 litre of nic is idiotic and unreasonable. Chicago will lose a fortune in tax when it is all said and done. Very few vapers will buy in the city and every Chicago vape store will go out of business or move to the 'burbs. Not very smart government decision.

Maybe around Feb 3rd when I get my next check I'll go down there and see what is going on.

I spoke to the vape shop owner of Level Vape, Larry. Really nice guy. He attended all of the meetings that were open regarding this tax, and the people in charge of the meeting never called on citizens to voice their concerns. You are right though, most of the shops will not last 6 months. Level Vape is trying to think of some way to stay open. Haven't been there in a month, so I don't know what they plan to do.

I'm not loaded and every nickel I spend has to be spent wisely, so if the prices jumped, $20 or even $30 for 30ml, there is no way I'd buy it, and I don't think many will.
