Can't say for sure. Does the name Sigelei appear on the battery along with ICR?

I'm just guessing but maybe those Sigelei ICR 18650s are pull-outs. Batteries yanked from Sigelei kits when they were replaced with Sigelei IMR or similar batteries.

When the first Sigelei Zmax kits hit the market a year ago some vendors were packing blue ICR 18650s with the kits. I don't know if they were protected or not. The Sigelei Zmax VV/VW are designed to run on IMR batteries. Maybe someone is selling off the surplus ICRs.

Protected ICR should not be used with VV, VV/VW or high drain mechanical mods. You might want to use protected ICR on a 3.7V single voltage mod, but IMR would still be a safer choice. Protected ICR could also be used in a flashlight.

Here it is. Should I toss it? Receiving my ProVari on Monday and don't want to jeopardize anything.

Toss it. I find that battery only at alibaba sites like this one. Look further down that page and you will find this:

"Discharge: current = 0.5C mA"

This is a Li-Co, lithium ion battery, unprotected if it's the same as in the link and that's dangerous to use in any PV. These are the ones that blow up. Dispose of like any other used battery at a disposal center or store that offers this service.

You would have thought, wouldn't you...

But I don't reckon that's how Sigelei see it. Have you seen their mechanical collection? Some of them are great with a little modification (I have two #8s, love them), some of them are [Lynn Faulds Wood]potential deathtraps[/Lynn Faulds Wood].

One of them had a switch that was basically just a split pin with a spring round it. The button just deforms the spring, connecting the two halves of the pin. I wouldn't know how to design a button properly. But I'm pretty sure it isn't like that.

Caveat emptor. Cos if we keep buying it, they'll keep making it.
