I'm getting a couple of questionable batteries (sigelei 18650 IMR, 2500mah 30a(not 30a obv)) in a package deal, just curious if anyone has any experience with them. I assume they are rewraps (LG's or Samsungs?) and would like to know more about them before I use them in anything. Anybody used these for anything?

I love Sigelei mods. I have Sigelei FuChai, 100 plus and 150, and I am planning to get a sigelei mini 30 soon. Having said that, I don't trust their batteries though. I think I read it somewhere that it's a max 10A continuous only battery. So, probably a rewrap of trust fire. :)

Any idea where you read that? These seem to have different specs than the older Sigelei 18650's (and different wrappers, slightly).

I guess most batteries with high current should be rewrapped from LG's Sumsung's or SONY'S

Or whatever they have handy to re-wrap this week...

Unless Sigelei built their own battery manufacturing plant...highly doubtful, there is no way to reliably know what they are using under their wraps, and what they may switch to due to cost or availability.

A good quality battery from an actual battery manufacturer, sold by a reliable vendor takes the guesswork out of it.

"Mystery Batteries" are from unknown origins and of unknown quality (and safety).

The label on these say Li-Mn (safe chemistry & high drain), so that's good. There are to my knowledge no 2500mAh & 30 amp continuous discharge rated batteries on the market, except for the Sony VTC5. So, these are likely rewrapped Sony's. But unless Segelei confirms this, we don't really know, do we?

(The purple Efest 2500mAh 35 amp batteries are said to be re-wrapped LG 2500mAh 20 amp continuous batteries.) Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised

There are only a few battery manufacturing plants in the world that actually "make" their own batteries. Most batteries sold that are not a major brand name are re-wrapped batteries from these plants, or re-wrapped "harvested" batteries from laptop computers, etc. and sold as "new".

Thanks, Baditude. I wasn't able to find any other batteries that had the same specs besides the VTC5's either.

Asmodus handles Sigelei warranty and some distribution, so I have a little more faith in the batteries, but it is still a crapshoot without confirmation. I feel like it is unlikely they would sell a battery that would be dangerous to use in the brand's products (particularly their high wattage box mods) at this point.

I plan on at minimum trying them out. Thanks for the responses folks.
