We often talk about the American calls to action, I think alot of us here are american. I actually am a canadian, Hailing from Vancouver (But living overseas).

anyways
I just sent over a page long letter to the MLA, The Premier Of BC, the MP, the minister of health, and a few other people.

Because the new bylaw (that I found out about a bit late) Bans vaping in all public places, including parks, and 5 metres away from any open window, Doorway, or parking lot. and anywhere indoors.

This is making me mad. They wanna treat the public like children. It goes against my freedom.
The heart and stroke foundation stated that they hope other cities should follow suit because, And I qoute, "we still don`t know the long term effects of them and so we should restrict them to protect Canadians"

And The ban in vancouver, It was stated part of the reason is to protect the kids.
I started smoking at 13. Obviously they are doing something wrong. we should be handing them out. not restricting them.

When will the government stop trying to restrict our rights and our freedoms.
Smokign was banned because of the risk of second hand smoke exposure. But now they force vapers to endure it? One of the reasons I stopped smoking is because of the ostracization. Yet now they continue to Ostracize. _________<======Insert worst swear word here!

They are not restricting your rights and freedoms. They are protecting their income. They do not want to lose their tax revenue. If it so happens to interfere with the people of the land, oh well, their just drug addicts!

Now for hypocrisy look to America. All of our tobacco products have insane taxes except two types, Cigars and Pipe tobacco. So most MYO smokers now use "Pipe" tobacco. Seeing as how they decided to not add the same $25 per pound tax on pipe tobacco as they did with cigarette tobacco. Why? What do you think most of our "leaders" and wealthy chose to smoke?

vaping in parks? It depends on the State. Delaware enacted no vaping or smoking in any of their state parks.
I'm not sure what the stance is for Federal parks, Grand Canyon etc...

State Parks don't fall under Federal laws. Local parks don't fall under State law, those laws would be made by local governing bodies.

It is idiotic, to say the least, to ban vaping or smoking in an outdoor space.

I mean but u guys can vape In Parks right? I am not a smoker. I refuse to be treated like one. Makes me wanna vape in spite of the regulations as a stand for my freedom.

No vaping on public property such as parks or beaches. No vaping indoors in businesses (bars, factories, etc). Just figure the restrictions for tobacco use and you have the vape restrictions!

Here's the solution

1. STOP TREATING VAPING LIKE IT'S A HOBBY and stop thinking it's not smoking, to non smokers/vapers it is so respect them. Vapers put themselves out there to be a target. They should have just layed low and enjoyed it.

2. Stop thinking that just because you're an adult, tax paper or whatever you think that you can do what you want.

3. Canadians love to complain about things after the fact but do very little to prevent it before the fact. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Point 3 being a very important one, everyone complains but no one steps up to fight before hand. Vaping needs a serious organization to counter other organizations like the Heart and Stroke Foundation....Strength is in numbers. This has nothing to due with taxes, if it did, they'd just tax Vaping (that will come btw) and make more money. Only thing that affects goverment policies is public opinion and the threat of losing their job.

Arrogant post above. Wow.

You didn't say which post you were referring to Spencer. If it is mine, I'm Canadian too as you can see from under my avatar and was being sarcastic. I suppose I should have included something to that effect so people get it, but I missed it that time :)

... and Captain Kirk.

... And Jim carrey and Dan Akroid, and John Candy, and the Sutherlands, and too many more to even list half of them. You can chain Celine Dion to the stage in Vegas, though, just make her husband come back to spend his money over here and we have a deal

The fact is that laws in the US and Canada are all very similar. Why is that? Where do people in general get new ideas: hearing about what the guy next door is doing. Here's another though: both our governments get much funding from BT, especially when it comes to election budgets... ever thought about that? I thought about it and still realize there is still one major component to the equation: never smokers. Yup... if you're a full time vaper, you should by now smell what they have been complaining about all along and it is only natural for them to associate an act that looks a lot like smoking to smoking itself. We need to educate the whole population as well as the government, but conflicts are won with the masses, not only through the few idiots on top (the few idiots will grease the squeaky wheel, though...)
