CP is brutal. I've stopped using them at all for any of my business shipping because they are so unreliable. When ordering products in I have had the gamut of tricks and fast ones pulled by these guys. In fact, one of my last e-cig shipments was reported as delivery attempt made and a card left yet there was no attempt made. There were 4 people here at the time and with the upstairs office having a huge window overlooking the driveway, nothing gets past without notice. No card was left either so I ended up calling CP to ask where I can pick up my items and to put in a formal complaint. I ended up picking up that package that night at the local post office. The card was put in my mailbox the next day. On a shipment before that, again with everyone home, the letter carrier tried to stick a card to the mailbox without making an attempt to actually deliver the package but was caught due to a watchful eye out the office window. You'd think the delivery people would be smart enough to not stand right in the driveway while they fill out the card.. Dumbasses

I don't want to hijack this thread, I just need a place to express my feelings about CP.
On their website, it says that my package was supposed to arrive today.
I've been waiting since 8am.
10 minutes ago, their shi**y truck stopped in front of my building. I got excited, it was like xmas. I stood by the window, waiting for him to come out with my package but HE NEVER DID.
AHHHHHHHHHHH :-x
It's driving my crazy. I really hate CP.

Edit: GREAT, now I can't even track my package anymore. It keeps saying that the page is not available!

Edit 2: Oh, and, are they really allowed to leave package in front of the door if no one answers? Because that's what he did with the only package he had in his stupid truck.

Yes - CP can leave a package on your doorstep - or anywhere else considered a "secured" location. They are supposed to ring the bell - but sometimes don't.

You can ask your vendor to write "do not safe drop" on your parcel - then CP either has to ring the bell or leave a parcel note in your mailbox. It sounds complicated - but since parcels sometimes DO get delivered to the wrong address - it ensures that you get your stuff.

I get frustrated with CP sometimes, too. When I was shipping live dayold chicks, I got a really good idea of how mail moves in Alberta. I have had Alberta-origin shipments take upwards of a week, when *I KNOW* that it should only take 1 or 2 days.

Also, since I'm in the country, I have to use a green community mailbox, which is filled by a subcontractor, not a CP employee. I'm sure that this woman takes days off (particularly near the weekend or holidays) and just takes the mail home til the next delivery day. Yeah, I can see bad weather delaying it, but not Fridays!

Same thing happened to me, tracking online showed they attempted to deliver twice in one day.

By wife is a stay at home mom and was home all day.

I went to our local post office and sure enough it was there, and I got the card in the mail THREE DAYS later.

Lazy .......s.

I don't believe there is anyone here that has received more e cig related parcels than me (no I am not being conceited). I have but the utmost respect for my mail carrier. The CP tracking on the other hand is indeed questionable. A little communication between you and your letter carrier goes a long way. I often receive my well awaited packages in the back yard. Wonder how I manage that? :)

We have those communal mail boxes in our neighborhood, mail guy never comes near my house and the expedited guy is always different :(

Most likely you have the old fashion mail carrier, who treats their job like a professional. I remember those from when I was a kid, in the area where I live. The mailman had the same respect as all other professionals of the community and he acted as such to earn that. My family used to give him a Christmas card, as did most others.

Today we live in a time where you have a subcontractor is doing the job in many places that couldn't care less. A case of replacing the career of mailman, with whoever will do the job for the least amount of money on contract. Pay peanuts, get monkeys. In today's world my "mailman" (I use that term loosely) will not go the slightest out of their way to do a better job. Inch of snow in front of the mailbox, well I don't have to deliver today then. Just looking for a reason to not have to do anything, rather that looking for a reason out of pride, to do their job better. Needless to say, there isn't a Christmas card at Christmas, I don't even know their name, nor do I care to.

Package in a backyard? Good luck, rasing the flag on the mailbox takes to much of their effort to bother doing. If I'm lucky they might shut the box properly so the mail doesn't blow away and rain get in.

I think this is what most people are experiencing today.

....not to go A.D.D. and off-topic - but do you mean you were actually mailing out live chickens...???

Is that legal?

Yes, it's quite safe and legal to ship dayold chicks, since they draw the yolk sac into their abdomens just before hatching. This provides them with calories and water enough to last up to 2 or 3 days. When there are a minimum of 25 they keep one another warm enough. No worries....many thousand are shipped this way when the weather permits.

I didn't know you could do that!
That's funny because yesterday was I surfing on CP's website (so much fun...) and I came across this option. It took me a couple minutes to understand that there's really an option for that.

You are so right. This is a really rare "species".
I grew up un a small city and the mailman was really professionnal.
My mother knew his name and sometimes they used to talk a little bit.
He even took a dump in our bathroom one day (yeah, REALLY funny story!).

But now, I live in a bigger city, and I would NEVER let him take a dump in my apartment! :vapor:

And we all thought we had it bad.. Seems Canada Post can be fatal if you are a chick.

I wouldn't want to bet my life that Canada Post can delivery a 1 day package in 2-3 days. ;)

Outside our wee post office, I can't stand Canada Post. We have community mailboxes and the ladies who run the post office in my village of <1000 are awesome. Even if it has a slightly incorrect mailing address, or my physical address instead of my P.O. Box number, or even a misspelling of my name, it ends up in my box.

I think my mail females do a great job, if only everybody else cared about doing it properly instead of half-assed slacking off.

Last month I had two Expedited packages of juice from VaporsKitchen delayed up to a week when it should have been two days. The first one seems to have sat in the post office for a week before being shipped off. The second package accidentally got shipped to Timmins, Ontario instead of Montreal. For another package they attempted delivery and left a card on Friday. Despite my post office being right nearby, it didn't arrive there for pick-up until the following Monday. On the upside, they've yet to lose a package.
