Silica wick

I have got so silica wick and when I work with it it just flakes and falls apart why is this it is so hard to work with

Is this not silica? I can't work with it at all before it starts to fall apart what should I do

heat it up with a lighter, unless its very low grade silica it should help it stay together.

You should Throw it Away and Not Use It.

Try to heat the wire before you wrap it around the wick. Don't wrap it to the point where the fibers break. Just snug enough. Be gentle LOL hope this helps!

Sounds like you might have gotten some inferior or old stock silica.
