I have three Aromamizer RDTA V1's and they use what seem to be silicone bands for AFC. I'm not worried about the material being safe.
I guess it depends on how you want to implement this. I don't use mine for AFC ... they don't work well for that. It's just not a precise enough system mainly because they're too 'squishy' and not stable enough. I leave the bands on the tanks just so I can push them down to cover the air holes to make them leak proof.
They changed to a metal AFC ring on the next version of the tank. I don't have one of these but I bet that works much better.
