The Trinity has ruled! Guess I can be on top or bottom as long as I keep it short.

Thanks guys, I will quit fretting about it and let you now ponder world peace.

No. You should fret about it. Not only will you give the impression of being a boor but there are practical reasons for BOTTOM POSTING.

This is a piece of etiquette that is being lost in part due to Microsoft putting your cursor at the top when replying and in part just due to the trend towards wearing your pants on the ground.

You should post below the text you are referencing. That way people have context for your reply.

If you are responding point by point in a large quote you should insert your responses in the quote below each point you are responding to.
Note: quotes start with "[qu ote]" and end with "[/qu ote]" You can insert these in the quoted portion break it into multiple quotes and respond in between those.

If you are responding to a large portion of text and only a small portion of it is pertinent, then EDIT the quote to delete the large amounts of unnecessary (to understand your response and what you are responding to) text or pics or whatever. Don't be lazy. Don't wear your pants on the ground.

OK Quick, this is a very passionate plea for proper replies. For really detailed topics I will have to dig out my HTML editor to ensure I get all of my tags correct.

Thanks for the visual though, every time I see the cursor at the top, I will sing "pants on the ground" (love that ditty) while moving it to the bottom of the quote. With that in mind, I will never forget!

... When I'm quoting a long post, I cut it down to just the basics, so people will know who I'm quoting. ...

I think this is a thing that more people should do. It kind of irks me when someone makes a full page post with many topics and then members quote the entire post only to comment on one paragraph or even one line of the orginal post.

The other thing that tee's me off is people who write with long, run-on sentences. ;)
