Simple Atomizer Wick Question

I'm thinking of making a DIY atomizer, but I'm not clear as to why a wick is necessary if the heating element is providing enough heat. Could someone clarify this for me? Thanks advance.

I think its just to get enough liquid on the coil at all times,
so it doesn't go dry & 'burn' the liquid.

I think I got you. At what temperature does the liquid begin to vaporize?

Ah, I've read that somewhere on this forum, can't remember exactly.
Possibly around 180 to 200 deg. celsius ?
