This may sound like a redundant question, but would it be possible to create a dual coil in parallel out of a single piece of wire in an rda? Like if i got a long strand of wire and built a coil and connected it to the negative post, then ran it through the center post out to the other side and then created another coil on the other side and then attached that through the other negative post. Would it work, or would it cause a short?

It just seems like it would be very difficult to build 2 identical coils on the device. Remember the coils need to be as close to identical as possible to prevent one from firing hotter than the other

It seems so much easier to build 2 identical coils and then install them on the device.

I would build 2 separate coils, but the holes on the post of my omega clone aren't big enough to have 2 28g wires run through them.

When you build coils in series it will not half the resistance as two parallels do. Just keep that in mind. So they will generally take longer to heat up. Four wrap dual parallels are splitting the current whereas four wrap dual series are creating a longer stream for the current to travel.

My advice would be to either take advantage of the screws to ground your connections or drilling out the post holes. I frequent 24 gauge so I drilled my post holes carefully to 1/16 to handle duals effectively.

As long as you are using a 3 post RDA and you run the long leg through the positive post (connecting the other end of each coil to the individual negative posts) you won't have coils running in serial, it will act the same as it would if you used 2 separate coils. It is a bit harder to build a dual coil out of a single wire, but it will function just fine. One reason I've done this is to be able to maintain a solid positive connection on an RDA that didn't seem to tighten down on 2 wires sufficiently.

Vapehappy on youtube has a very nice video on this type of build. The video is called "the simple sleeper build" He uses 24 ga kanthal to build a .2 ohm dual coil on a Nimbus. You can see it here
