IMG_1148.jpg Just got my Itaste Svd from FT yesterday and i noticed it has a bit of a electric button buzz when i listen next to the button. It's quiet so i cant normally hear it, but just the fact it even makes a noise freaks me out. Is this normal? I'm running a 1.2 ohm single coil in my aqua (which looks ....ing amazing on the svd if i may say so myself).

As I understand it, FT, being a distributor, will sell anything, made by anyone. But there have been NO authenticated reports that if they say something is a particular brand it isn't. It seems that if they say "authentic" anything, it is. If they don't, it's a look-alike (and maybe not a perform alike...)

So if they say it's innokin, it probably is. Now, is it a good one or a factory reject? Can't say about that.

BTW, like your Farscape avatar. Too bad they killed of D'Argo....

I normally use Joye Ego C upgraded passthroughs and get no buzz from those. I recently bought a few generic version of them and they do occasionaly buzz like that. They don't do it all the time and switching from my usual right-handed vaping to left-handed sometimes stops the buzz. Its a mystery for sure. For those thinking this is the "rattlesnake" atty sound, no not the same thing. Its a buzz similar to what can be heard sometimes standing under a high-power electric line or box. I'm really not even sure its coming from the battery itself but maybe its vibrating the clearo on it or something as sometimes loosening the clearo a half-turn stops it but that could be coincidence because, as I said, its intermittent to start with. The first time I heard it I was sitting at my computer when it was real quiet and I thought my computer was making the buzz.

If it does, as reported use the 33 Hz chip, that's approaching the low end of "normal" hearing, which is often given as 20 Hz. So it could be coming from the chip, and the pulsing is, of course, also present on the coil. Regarding power lines and such, in the US they're all at 60 Hz, so more into normal hearing range.

To clarify my thing about Innoken on FT, it was a pbusardo video from a while ago, perhaps a review of the SVD. In it, he said (I'm pretty sure it was him) that he talked to Innoken on the phone and asked them specifically, and they confirmed that no authentic Innoken products are sold on FT, they are not an authorized reseller. I don't know, that may have changed since the video I saw, but when I was reading reviews about the SVD before purchasing one last month, I noticed that all the really bad ones started with 'I just got my SVD from Fasttech and....' Which made sense after hearing that on the video, and why I mentioned it.

I'm not sure what I'm reading. Are you saying that the buzz is okay or normal and that our hearing is just "better" than average with low tones?

there have been several people having this issue mostly with the 134 devices, it's caused by a gap in between the Tube and the firing pin area (needs tightening)......if your SVD has 2 opposing tool indentations on the head on the very bottom of the base this is how to tighten it back up (what kind of tool idk).....if your head is pressed on idk

Right. As the current changes (due to the pulsing of the DC) it sets up a minute magnetic field. That also changes at 33 Hz, and this (or the 60 cycle hum - AC is less staccato). Anything magnetic - i.e. steel - may thus vibrate at that rate, and if conditions are "right" it may be loud enough to detect.

So yes, tightening things may alleviate it. But it's not really an issue for function.

Retired dam electrician - that's clean hydro power dam :)

personally i'd rather tighten it back up like it's supposed to be, but hey i'm not an electrician so what do i know.

Well, sure, if it's a loose topper or coil, tighten it. But if it's internal to the SVD, maybe not so easy, and may or may not void any warranty. And not a problem.
