hello all.

i just built a dual coil velocity rda and its showing 0.6
these are twisted (by myself 3 wires all together)

anywho.

when i fire the coils they are slow to heat up . also, one is slower than the other. i have tightened the screws to the max..... i have gone all the way to 85 watts on my ipv3li and its still slow! i have to wait 3 or so seconds before i feel a vape coming through

here are some pics.

also, am i closing the rda correctly? with the coils direct into the

how do you solve one coil heating faster than the other? is there a logical reason or is this normal? or is the rda at fault?

make sure they match #of wraps, fire and squeeze when hot, let cool and fire again till glow even with each other, or rub then with whatever you wrapped them with

yeah the reason one heats faster then the other is one is slightly longer then the other. I have learned from trial and error that they MUST be exactly the same length. and the more wraps the longer they take to heat. for twisted coils I use high guage wire like 28-32ga or tons of wattage

All of the above, and one thing that I do is after I have the coils in there and more or less in the same direction, I'll stick my screwdriver or drill bit in and pull up and out to even things out. Then I strum and squeeze the coils in between dry fires to get them glowing evenly. If one continue to glow unevenly, chances are that 1 of the legs of the slower lighting coil is a big longer. You can back off a screw a bit, pull the leg in a bit more and try again. I've done this a few times to even out the coil firing.

What brand of batteries are you using?

If one coil heats faster than the other it's going to be a poorly connected leg, or one coil is longer than other. It's an easy mistake to make.
On a regulated device the resistance isn't really important, so don't get hung up on a specific one. It's about maximizing surface area while minimizing mass, though this is a balancing act. The fact that it has an unacceptable ramp time indicates that you need more power for the mass of your coils. Use more power, or less massive coils.

I currently have dual single core 28/32 claptons in my Velocity at 65 watts, ramp up time is almost instant and it belts out the vapor. You may want to consider raising your coils so the airflow hits the bottom third. This improves airflow and encourages a vertical vapor path. Also move the coils back from the airholes closer the the posts, especially if you are using a chuff cap as this provides a more direct vertical path for the vapor to your mouth hole. Makes for far better flavor.

thank you all once again you've been very helpful.

i dug in and lessened the coils to 7 wraps. it is now heating faster by a long shot! and yes. one coil was longer in a wrap or two. its hard to count these they are so tiny and my eyes arent what they used to be ... i am only 37 but believe me when i say i cant see them!

a friend of mine kept telling me to twist 3 wires of 28 gague and that was the experiment.

Not the best video but, you don't use 3 wires to make a twisted coil

I Heard That.

interesting. but on steam-engine it does give you the option .. check it out.
nevertheless, i should have just done twisted 2, then wrap two on each other.

i am doing this for thickness of wire to be honest as i dont have 26 gauge and 28 is a pain to deal with. rather thin.

A 2 wire twisted should work well for you, so don't be afraid to drop down to that, it'll still be good wire mass. If you could get your hands on a spool of something like 32g, you could wrap yourself some claptons which give great flavor. Another option would be to see if any other vapers you know would want to trade some wire in a gauge you want to try for some of yours.
