although some say 400 is about the same as 500, I have had better results with the 500. but it may not be your problem. 5-10 good vapes is a lot to take in one go, so you actually take this amount of pulls consecutively ? imo, with low resistances I have always found that a little more mesh works better. what the size of your wick? and how much mesh do you start out with? I have tried all different densities of mesh and found that a really solid wick of 500 works the best.

then that's pretty normal I guess, I was going to say that you are upping the bar on chain vaping. whenever I made wicks that kind of squished or could collapse and required a needle inserted to wrap, they couldn't keep up as much as a wick that was more dense.

also it is quite possible that you are getting a short somewhere, this will create excess heat which could overheat the wick so it produces less vapor. maybe when your wick sits and gets saturated the hotspot doesn't quite affect it until a few vapes later. do you know for sure that you have no hot spot issues at all? with lower resistance coils it does take slightly more fiddling initially to get it just right. do you feel that your atty is heating up some after a few vapes? if so this could be a hot spot for sure. if you drain the tank and fire it up are all the coils lighting up evenly with none out glowing the others? just another possibility here for your issues

There was a guy who posed a similar question in the 'ask the vet' section. He said all coils are glowing evenly, that he's tried solid wicks and other things. His juice is 50/50 and his coil is 1ohm (not sure on the wire gauge).

I told him to revisit the 500 wick and asked if he had all the holes plugged, ie. extra wick holes, fill hole. Some people plug all the holes and make sure there's space around the wick, but if not it would effect wicking/vapor/flavor in a negative way.

When I got my second RBA, I was having wicking issues. Constantly tipping to get the juice to the coil.
Someone posted to make sure the grain of the mesh is running vertical.

Well I held my mesh up to some light, and it appeared the grain was horizontal the way I was rolling it.
I flipped it 90 degrees and haven't had an issue since.

I can't be 100% sure that what fixed my issues, but it appears to be.
I'm using #500 mesh BTW.

I use 400 usually, sometimes 500. Whichever I happen to grab first. I don't have any trouble with either. I DIY all my own juice, anywhere between 70PG/30VG and 60PG 40VG, depending on the recipe. I roll my wicks around a straightened paper clip; not brutally tight; but not super loose either. Just nice and firm, I guess.
Are you leaving the fill screw out? Most people do. Do you tilt when you vape?
