I feel like I'm posting a lot on here, but to be honest, the support and reading these articles helps me to remember WHY it is I'm quitting. It also is keeping me accountable which is something I need - especially living with my wife who doesn't smoke cigarettes much but isn't really trying to quit either. Yesterday I had 5 cigarettes all day. That's HUGE for me. I've gone from a pack and a half to 5 in less than a week. Today, I'm hoping to smoke 3 all day today. The worst one I'm struggling with is the right when I get up in the morning cigarette...

Congratulations on your progress! For the longest time after I started vaping the morning smoke was always the hardest one to beat. I finally beat it by putting my mod next to my alarm. I'd hit the snooze, grab the mod and have a vape while waiting for the snooze to go off.

That's great RevQ3. Without vaping, I couldn't have imagine surviving on only five cigarettes in a day, at least not without becoming a raving, homicidal lunatic. So, congratulations on the cigarettes you didn't smoke. I dual-used for the first week or so, but some do it even longer. Any cigarette you avoid is great, and I'm confident that it will get easier for you. Just don't be too hard on yourself. It's a tough habit you're dealing with.

Keep up the good work, and keep us posted.

Congratulations, and I had the same issue with the morning cigarette. When I started vaping I continued smoking that first one in the morning for about 2 weeks and I didn't best myself up about it, so don't you either. I also smoked about a pack and a half a day for 20 years. You're making the healthier choice and from 30 coffin nails to 5 is a huge difference.

It will get easier as you go. Soon you won't even think about it. Or when you do think about it, you'll be surprised you ever smoked in the first place.

A victory goes in the win column, Rev, it doesn't matter the size. Fight the battle one stick at a time. Each one not smoked is a major win. The morning cig was my hardest, too. Took me a week, week and a half to beat it. Lots of people liked to buy a fresh pack for the security blanket effect of knowing it was there if they couldn't stand it. Didn't work for me. If I had 'em, I smoked 'em. Try it both ways until you get one that works. And don't fear falling off the wagon. It happens. It happened to me. When the hoss throws you, get back on it and ride. Neither worry about posting too much. Moral support is a good bit of what we do here. We are pleased to do it, and grateful we can. I'm sure you understand this; moral support, I suspect, is a good bit of what you do in your job. You're doing great, my friend. You're one if the success stories. Keep up the good work. And how's your EVIC working for you?

Stay determined and remain positive. You really have to really WANT to quit for anything to work. :thumb:

I smoked for 30+ years, one pack per day, and had tried all of the traditional methods to quit to no avail. I purchased an EnJoy disposable ecig on a whim and realized that this just might work. I Googled e-cigarette to do some research and found ECF and followed the ECF veterans' advice.

I purchased a recommended ecig starter setup (SmokelessImage). I guessed that I'd probably still get smoke cravings when I began vaping, so I set myself on weaning off schedule. I allowed myself four real cigarettes a day, while vaping as frequently and as often as I desired. I only allowed myself to smoke HALF of a cigarette each time, and set the remaining half aside for the next craving.

Those second half cigarettes tasted pretty bad, and it wasn't long before I was actually preferring the vape over the cigs, so that was all good.

I had set aside a full pack of cigs for that week that I chose to quit. By the end of the week I was through the pack, and through with cigarettes till this day. I haven't bought a pack and have never wanted to smoke a single cigarette again in over three years.

Of course, I upgraded my cigalikes to a new mod setup within 3 - 4 weeks time. This resulted in much longer battery time, more options in the juice delivery device, variable power options, the ability to use replaceable rechargeable batteries, and a much better overall vaping experience.

Good luck to you. If I can quit, so can you. You can do this!!

I really, really like the Evic. I like the eGo ONE Mega that came with it too. Surprised because I thought it would be a throw away basically since I have the Triton. However, I find I use it way more than the Triton. I think I'll probably use the Triton more when they come out with the Nickel coils but, man, that temperature control REALLY makes a smooth smoke. It's really quite a remarkable difference.

This has been my experience as well. I suspect you won't have to wait too long for Ni coils for the Triton. I think everybody's gonna be making them soon.

CONGRATS!
That first analog in the mornings was one of the hardest to drop. I think I kept smoking my morning one for about two weeks after I started vaping. My biggest problem was the routine, you know, wake up, let the dogs out, make a cup of coffee, sit on my deck, drink coffee and SMOKE. Every. Day. For 15 years. It's a hard habit to break. The first few weeks after giving up that morning analog I had to switch that habit up, distract myself from it. Since then I've found better juices that go well with my coffee and that's made all the difference and I went back to my normal morning habit but with a vape. I still can't do any of those fruity or dessert flavors in the morning. I use a menthol tobacco juice with a higher nicotine level than my other juices so I get that kick first thing in the am, it's probably the only reason I finally kicked the am analog. It's as close as you can get to smoking an analog without doing the damage. . .

here's some fun math for you though, just to keep in mind.
You smoked a pack and a half a day. That's 210 analogs in a week.
IF you have 5 analogs a day this week, that's 175 analogs that you DIDN'T SMOKE!
That sounds like a hell of an accomplishment to me!

Way to Go RevQ3.

That Mourning Cigarette was tough for me Too. But I got down to the point after about Two Weeks where I just had to say NO. I'm Not going to Smoke it. Maybe Tomorrow I will? Or Maybe Next week? But I'm just Not Going to Smoke it Today.

You are Doing Great. And Going from 30 Cigarettes a Day to 5 is Fantastic.

Just Keep Ramping Down. You'll kick that Mourning Cigarette.
