Sometimes text can be misinterpreted, I often use a smiley to indicate just how a sentence was to be phrased
example
I Love You Kassiopeia:rolleyes:

vs

I Love You Kassiopeia:wub:

Simple really ( oh and for you naysayers ... the 2nd one is the one on the money ):D


i agree. they can help convey the spirit or sentiment.
people can and do take things other ways than they were originally intended.

language alone is tricky enough.
for example:

"'I apologize' is the same thing as 'I'm sorry'...
