Hello again. Welcome back for yet another review by yours truly. Today I will be taking a look at the Smoant Knight AIO Kit that was sent to me by sourcemore in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. The Knight uses a single 18650 battery with a max output of 90 watts. It makes use of the ANT chip to provide eight different output modes and has a .49” screen. The included cartridge has a 5ml capacity and can be filled from the back or side. The cartridge is compatible with K series coils and the Knight can be used with most boro tanks.

    INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the Smoant Knight AIO is good but not great. I do like how there is a clear viewing window on the front so you can see the actual device inside. I’m sure that no one buys any device just because of the packaging. At the top of the box in smaller letters is the sentence “Small Ant Big Power”. I’m guessing that this is referring to the Ant chipset which is used on the Knight. In larger letters are the Knight AIO and Smoant names. The back of the box has a list of features, contents list, company information, and authenticity code.

Once opened, The Knight AIO is found in a white foam insert. Beside the Knight is a box with the charging cable, spare coil, spare drip tip, and user manual. I’m not really sure why there were two tips included since I didn’t notice much of a difference between the two besides one of them have a curved body. I like how the Knight has a sticker on the front listing the button functions so you really don’t need to read the manual to get started. Especially if you are already familiar with boro devices.

The button side has the phrase Designed by Smoant on the plastic battery cover. The fire button has a raised lip around it and the smallish display screen is located underneath where the sticker is that lists the button functions. That sticker is easily removed if you like. You can still make out the display with the sticker on. The back side has a removable tank cover with a clear window and the Knight AIO name on it. Closer to the bottom is the Smoant badge. Below the window, the body is clear so you can see the chipset and components on the board inside.

One side of the Knight has a removable panel that has one large and one small air inlet opening. The opposite side has the magnetic plastic battery cover with unnecessarily large letters spelling out the SMOANT name. For me it’s a little over reaching on the branding. In the third and fourth pictures below you can see that both panels are removable and the included boro tank can be filled from the side or back. Underneath the long side panel is a silver plate with some specifications and again more branding with the “Designed by Smoant” at the bottom.

Once the plastic battery cover is removed, the clear battery compartment has the + and – signs molded into the plastic with the – sign at the top. Once the battery is inserted then there is a gear looking wheel that is turned to tighten down to make contact with the battery. I very much like this design and have seen it used on higher end mods like the Stubby. It really makes battery changes easy. It’s hard to see in my pictures but the center part that makes contact with the battery appears to be gold plated.

The Knight AIO uses the Smoant Ant chipset to offer fseight different output modes. The modes available are VW/VV/DVW/BYPASS/NI/TI/SS/TCR. The display measures .49” and is an OLED display. The display shows the following information.

    • Battery level indicator
    • Set wattage
    • Lock/Unlock symbol
    • Coil resistance
    • Puff counter
In previous pictures the button operation was shown on the sticker on the front of the mod when it’s received so I don’t see a point in listing them again.

The included boro tank has a 5ml capacity and can be filled from the fill ports on the side or on the back. The literature says that the Knight is compatible with all boro tanks but that’s a pretty wide statement and it seems like there is always one exception to any rule. Despite being able to be filled from either port, the tank has to be removed from the thin side of the mod for cleaning or maintenance. The tank makes use of the K series of coils from Smoant and offer resistances in .15, .2, .3, .4, and .6 ohm resistances. The two included coils are the .15 and .4 ohm versions. The coils are a simple push in type coil and have two o rings at the base to seal from leaking.

    FINAL THOUGHTS:

The Smoant Knight AIO is what I would consider an entry level boro mod that uses factory made coils. It can also be used with other boro tanks. I do very much like the way they used the turn gear for making connection with the battery. I did find the mod itself just a little bit wide bodied for my hand but I don’t have large hands. However, after a couple days I was able to comfortably hold and fire the mod. I’m a simple wattage vaper and didn’t test the other modes because I wouldn’t have even if I had purchased the mod.

The two removable panels for filling the boro tank could be a little bit easier to remove but aren’t terrible. I started out using the .4 ohm K series coil with a liquid that I’ve used on and off for a few years. The flavor and vapor production were very satisfactory when run in the low 40’s range. The flavor was good but not to die for. Next up I tested the .15 ohm coil and switched to the straight included drip tip. I ended up running this coil in the mid 50’s range and found that the tip became hot when chain vaping. I therefore switched the replaceable drip tip with a longer 510 tip. I did like how the included tips were a good enough fit so you didn’t have to use a wrench with the boro nut. That’s a good thing because there was not a wrench included in the kit.

I’ve used several different boro mods in the past and if you don’t mind a PCTG body then this one is pretty decent for the price. I’d like to thank Sourcemore for sending the Smoant Knight AIO kit for this review. Thanks also to the readers for sticking it out through another review.
