I've had my smok al85 for a few months now. A couple of days ago I noticed when I switched out the battery that the screen now has a line going up the front. It looks as if it's cracked but it's actually a line of light. I'm sorry I can't describe it correctly so I'm going to try to include a pic. Any ideas what I can do about this or if it's going to cause any problems?

There are only 2 possibilities.
1. The hardware (screen) is damaged...in that case there's really nothing you can do.
2. The software messed up.... If that's the case then it should be easily fixed by a software reinstall which you can find on the smok website i think.
Thank you so much! Do I go to their website & just see what to do? If the screen itself is damaged would this fall under my warranty? Thanks again!

I remember looking for the software on the website a month ago and i couldn't find it... But one of the members here told me that they emailed smok customer support and they sent him the software via email.
I was able to find that software but i don't know how to send it to you. I don't think I'm allowed to send softwares on this forum and any email application will not let me send it because they'll label it as malicious content or malware.

If the screen is broken then it's not covered under the warranty. Any damage caused by user error is usually not covered, understandably.

Another possible thing that might have caused this is the ejuice seeping into the screen, highly unlikely but do you remember something like that happening?

I'm extremely careful with my juice & always turn off my vape prior to filling. In other words no, I don't believe any juice seeped into the screen. I also have Smok's Alien 220, & haven't had any problems with the screen. I love both, & am concerned that my AL85 is going to stop working. It's my favorite compact vape. Should I try contacting Smok? Thanks!

There's no harm in asking smok for a solution but they take ages to respond. But good luck with that.
Also if you're very confident that the screen hasn't cracked and there was no liquid damage then you should contact the seller, sometimes they're kind enough to help and they might even fix it for you. How old is this? If it's still under warranty and if you provide proof to smok that their was no damage caused by user error then they might help you out.

Let me ask you this...
Is it causing any problems?
Are you able to vape on it properly?
Are you able to access all the settings and change them?
If yes then maybe just let it be because it can be difficult to find the real problem and a solution to it.

I believe I bought this around 6 months ago, & I bought it directly from my local vape shop I've bought all my supplies from for over 4yrs.
It doesn't seem to be causing any issues as of yet. I've been able to switch it on & off, adjust things properly, but honestly I don't mess around with the settings much except on/off.
I think I'll go to my vape shop & at least let them take a look, as they've been extremely helpful with all my prior purchases.
I just went on Smoks site & sent an email to their support team, & included a pic of the screen. They do have a number to call Mon-Fri, but I think I'll wait until I go up to the vape store where I bought it first to see what they say.
Thanks so much for all the info, I really appreciate it. I'm hoping it's a quick fix! I'll let you know what I find out, & thanks again.

Hope you're able to get it fixed. Good luck.
Happy vaping :)
I do too! I've become such a huge fan of this particular mod, especially its size & how easy it is to run. If it craps out on me of course I'll go & buy another one. It would just be nice to know what went wrong & if there's anything I can do in the future to make sure it doesn't happen again.
I really appreciate all your help. Thanks again & have a great weekend!

I agree completely with you. I have the same kit. And i love it. The size and performance are just great.
Also since you've been buying your vape gear from one shop for 4 years i think they'll be happy to help such a long time customer, i know i would if i had a business.

And you seem to take good care of your vape gear so don't overthink it. It's all stuff... And stuff wears out even if you treat it very well.
And i really didn't help you with anything except mentioning the obvious. [emoji14]

Have a great weekend jen :)

It's actually pretty funny because the vape shop I've been going to used to be a cigarette shop, then turned to a roll your own joint. They bought over $75K worth of equipment, only to have the Feds shut them down. 6mos later I switched to vaping. I drove by the strip mall they were in a few months later, only find it had opened as a vape shop! I couldn't be happier for them, as they are the nicest couple, who went through a lot during their store closure.
Yes you did help me tremendously! My brain was thinking it was something having to do with an upgrade, which btw I do not understand one bit. I take really good care of all of my stuff because when I find the perfect setup, the thought of having to replace them/go without, gives me heartburn-lol!!

It seems like vaping saved a cigarette shop very ironically [emoji14]

The software upgrades are always optional.
The software that comes on your mod is tested for months and is a stable build of that version.
The software on mods like this shouldn't get screwed up except maybe if you tried to mess with it, which it doesn't seem like.
But you wouldn't believe how common this issue is with laptops and phones. The common fixes are updating the driver or the software but if you don't understand it then you must not mess with the software yourself otherwise you might brick the device.
I think you will be able to get a fix if you go to the local shop you referred. They must have seen something like this happen before and know what can be done.

I totally know what you mean by taking good care of a great setup and that's another way to make sure I save some money as I was promised when switching to vaping [emoji14]
But I just keep buying the new shiny stuff [emoji14]
