As far as I know the current firmware is V1.0.7 mine came with that version already installed. I've checked on the smok website and they don't list an upgrade for the al85, so there must only be this version so far. Below is the link if you wanna keep a check on it yourself, hope this helps
SMOK® Being with you for all great vaping time!

Okay so the one listed as "alien" is specifically for alien 220w right? I had the assumption it was for all alien including baby alien. Thanks!

It's for the Alien 220. Furthermore, there are two different versions of the original Alien. If you install the wrong firmware you'll likely brick your mod.

Anyone has any guide on what the settings mean? Soft vs normal vs hard? I know TC and watt, but what is memory? Read the manual but it doesn't say much.
It's basically "preheat". Normal applies the set wattage instantly when pressing the fire button, soft applies a lower wattage at the start, and hard applies a higher wattage at the start. I'm not sure how much higher/lower or for how long it's applied.

I keep my Alien set on hard but honestly I've never been able to tell the difference. Maybe it's more noticeable at higher wattages but I never go over 40.

I'm a man, and I can change, if I have to, I guess.

Good luck. I purchased one from FT a while back. Said it would ship on 2/28. Everything else I ordered with it just now shipped yesterday. The AL85 still hasn't.

A 2/28 ship date from FT and it's now only 3/3 is barely a rounding error when it comes to them.:D

The wait we go through to save the money..........

Sometimes the savings is not worth the wait. From what I have seen and read about FT I seriously doubt I will ever give them a shot.

I find FT great for almost everything EXCEPT pre-orders.

I cancelled my AL85 as the leadtime was crazy and God knew when I would actually have it. I ordered a Battlestar and it shipped in a few days as per the stated leadtime.

In any case, if you really need something quick, FT isn't a good choice. But for o-rings, replacement glass, tank bases, etc.? They are cheap and the parts are generally excellent.

I just order a bunch of spare parts from FT this morning.

For most of my stocking needs, I'm going with FT, just because I'm no longer at the point where I feel like I need it right away, so I don't mind the wait. There's only a handful of things I've found cheaper from US vendors (FT sells Gemini's for $24, Elementvape has them for $10). But after what I've been reading about preorders from them, I'll probably but dish out the extra cash if they don't have what I want in stock.

I'll give my AL85 another week to ship before I cancel.

I really haven't tested them much as I pretty much vape exclusively in tc.

I contacted FT about my AL85 that still hasn't shipped. They told me they got confirmation from the manufacturer that it would be available to ship on 3/15. Original estimated ship date was 2/28, then 3/6.

My grey one just shipped today!

I'm interested in picking one of these up at some point (can't decide on the silver or the black), almost did recently, but I bought a ton of stuff lately and can't justify it yet. How is the mod performing and holding up for those who have received theirs?

I'm in LOVE with the Pico's form factor, which the AL85 has adopted, but the main attraction for me is TC for SS (like the Pico) and the AL85's ability to handle wider tanks that the Pico cannot (without using a heat sink). I'm on the lower end of the wattage spectrum (20-40w, typically), so 85w is quite enough for me.

I'll keep a watch on the thread as everyone will finally get theirs soon!
