Hi Guys,

smok AL85 Fireware: V.1.0.12

https://www.mediafire.com/?nmq3dwxwapd52o5

ENJOY!

Efsev

I tried running the firmware and I get an "Invalid Chip ID" "connection failed" message. My device keeps thinking it's charging when it's not plugged in and I'm at my wits end trying to fix it. I haven't heard back from Smok support.. Anyone have any ideas?

Churl that's not good, me thinks Efsev may secretly work for Pico

Haha, I should have clarified the battery charging problem was preexisting. Its why I was trying the firmware.

Mine came from FT with V.1.0.12 and TC with SS is still bloody useless.
That's not the only thing why this needs new firmware ASAP:
- Full 85 watts on after replacing battery
- Memory slot settings flushed after replacing battery
- Does not remember old atty resistance after replacing battery

Just so sloppy, silly and stupid things on otherwise nice little mod.

the problem for me was the config.ini file which came with the ISP programming tool I downloaded from above link.
I tried several different versions of tool and interesting but the version I used for Smok Alien mod (300 watt) seem worked for AL85 also and I upgraded my v1.0.7 AL85 to v1.0.12 without any issues. I used just the ISP upgrade tool not the firmware of Alien Mod 300watt , ofc.
I compared both ini files and saw below 4 lines which defines NUC220LE3AN type devices.
So, try to put below 4 lines to the end of the file.

[0x40022000]
NAME_STRING = NUC220LE3AN
RAM_SIZE = 4
FLASH_SIZE = 128
//put 2 extra empty lines to the end of the file if it does not have already (hit enter)
then select aprom file > *.hex > file=APROM_VIVI-120_V1.0.12.hex
- program=aprom
- hit start.
good luck

Hi there! Do you get that a lot on 1.0.12 ? As I did experience it with my 1.0.7 device just a couple of times. I thought it was due to not turning the mod off before replacing the battery. I have just run some quick checks and it seems to be storing the settings well no matter if turned off beforehand or not.

Only once so far, tried now to trigger it again but luckily now it stores settings normally.
85W hit from normally 45W OBS Engine was quite a surprise, lol.
Wouldn't want that to happen with just out of pack coil head though.
Will keep an eye on it now every time I change battery to find out if there's a specific reason for memory flush.

Ok I've asked this in 2 other places with no response maybe I can get my answer here. I have one relatively recent Smok mod that I really don't care for.

2 reasons.

1. I don't care for the scrolling menu system.
2. I really don't like that the mod dictates the wattage in TC.

So if someone would be so kind. Are these still common traits in Smok firmware. Is the AL85 the same?

The scrolling menu system is still there.
But there is an option to adjust wattage even in TC.
You can adjust it by changing the wattage (strength, in the firmware) in the TC settings.

Thanks for the quick reply. Sounds identical including the "strength" setting. Just not for me then.
