Hello everyone
Wondering if anyone could help me and give me input . I'm looking into getting a smok alien 220w kit. But I've seen alot of reveiws saying that after a week or two that paint starting peeling and chipping off their device . I'm kinda ocd with my vapes . Could anyone who has purchased the smok 220w tell me if they have had problems with the paint . Where you purchased it and how long you have had it .
If I don't get the smok alien I'm looking into getting either the sigelei fuchai 200w or sigelei 150 watt tc . Which of the two would you suggest. Thanks anyone who can help

Welcome and glad you joined. My preference for mod coatings:
#1 300 Stainless steel
#2 Plating
#3 No finish
#4 Paint
Mike consider a wrap or sleeve.

howdy - and welcome! no experience with the Alien, but I do have a Sig 213 and have heard very solid things about the Fuchai 213 - and there have been teasers about a Fuchai 213+ with a color display that look sharp

typically, a silicone sleeve is a great idea if you want to protect the finish

If you're going to recommend the Sigelei 213 or the Fuchai 213 you really need to also inform about the nonfunctioning tcr and tc.

mostly a fair point, KenD, though the tc and tcr are not nonfunctioning, the scaling/ setting is non standard - the original 213 chipset was programmed with a TC algorithm using fahrenheit in the equation, instead of celsius then converting for display... algorithm was modifed for the fuchai 213 and from what i understand, performs pretty consistently - the majority of the uproar on the interwebs about the 213 was about the fact that it will NOT hit 213 watts and that it was misrepresented in that regard and that Sigelei essentially turtled up and responded like punks when called out on it... that being said, battery management on the OG 213 is excellent and its performance in power mode is excellent (i am not a fan of TC, personally) - and the fuchai version addressed some of the minor structural issues with battery door that surfaced in the OG

better? :)

I bought my alien on the 20 Nov 2016 black and blue one. It's never been dropped, it's been handled with kid gloves and almost all off the black paint has chipped off.
Went to take it back to the place I bought it from on New Year's Eve and they said nothing they can do for me despite me quoting consumer law to them. Really fed up never had paint chip off before but this isn't chipping off it's wearing away at a fast rate.

It seems to be a matter of QC issues with the finish. I've had mine since mid October, and while not abusing it (I don't abuse any of my mods) but also without relying on kid gloves, my finish is the same as out of the box. Even the screen, which in my case arrived without the screen protector (I know some folk got a version with one) remains unscratched. So not all will lost their finish, but there's not much to predict which ones will and which ones won't. I also never spill juice on my mods so no idea if that contributes to early paint failure.

Sorry to jump in on the thread but i have also been looking at getting one but have also heard about paint quality issues, Does anyone on here know if the silver version aliens suffer from the same issue? I have tried looking this up but can't really find any info on this, Are the silver versions painted or are they are metal finish?

No it didn't do TC whatsoever. Daniel from djlsbvapes proved it. I will never buy from a manufacture that not only false advertises there devices, but threatens reviewers when they call them out on it. It would be like buying a 120 hz 1080p monitor that is only 900p, and is 60 hz.

I think they are a clear coated metal finish

actually djlsbvapes proved that it would not hit the advertised wattage limit and that the TC was atypical, based on the algorithm they used - not defending sigelei's abhorrent response, as it was shady to the extreme, but the TC was not nonfunctional... agreed that their response to djlsb paints them as punks and I completely agree with voting with your wallet... but he did not state it had no TC whatsoever, simply that he did not like the implementation nor think it worked well, which in turn prompted sigelei to post their 'tc conversion tool'...
