I have been vaping for just under 2 weeks. Until today I only used ciga-like e-cigarettes. Today I purchased a setup from a local B&M shop. The salesman suggested smok Trophy tank, http://ru.smoktech.com/product_10017.html and SMOK eGo Winder 900mah battery, http://ru.smoktech.com/product_10005.html I paid $65.00 which includes 2 bottles of juice, battery charger and a couple of other small parts. I wasn't a cigarette smoker but a heavy cigar smoker so I purchased cherry cigar and Cuban cigar juice. I'm vaping the cherry cigar now and it's great. Much better than that GreenSmoke ciga-like I was using. So as the title says is this decent for a starter set-up? Thanks

Not too bad by the looks of it. The tank is basically a Kanger ProTank knockoff and the Winder is a decent battery. The price about made me choke but I maybe it's not so bad with accessories and charger. I think the only complaint you will have is how top heavy it will be with that tank. Aside from that, you should be good to go for a while.

I agree with Dragger....B&M will always charge you more but at least you don't have to wait, that's the price we pay for instant gratification. Now make sure you find a good e-juice site so you don't spend a lot of money on the upkeep of your new device. Congratz on the purchase enjoy!!!

P.S. I was a heavy Cigar smoker myself now I cant remember what they taste like, once you get over trying to mimic your old flame of cigars you will be the same way

Thank you very much guys for the replies. It is a little top heavy, it's not like having a cigar hanging in your mouth. I probably buy as much stuff online as I do locally food being the only exception so I know you can always get a better deal on almost everything online. Amazon Prime and UPS know me well :). I knew the price of my vaping rig would probably be overpriced but I wanted to have someone in person explain what I needed and how to use it correctly. I'm only 2 weeks into vaping and I am overwhelmed with the terminology and seemingly endless systems. I know in time I'll understand it more and I will be able to make better informed choices. But I'm happy I have a good start with what I have.

Hi JerseyBiker,
I am just starting my sixth week of vaping and like you found the terminology overwhelming at first.
Here's a link to a series of blogs for beginners from a respected poster which will help you nail batteries/mods and toppers (tanks, etc)
As for the price you paid, the advice you got face-to-face is probably worth some extra dollars.
Continuing success to you ! Happy vaping.

Welcome! I have found that the B&M's around my neck of the woods charge outrageous prices for most of their stuff hardware, for example a smoktech epipe mod kit is $169. I pieced one together for about $30 (minus the juice, and it was a chinese knockoff). Obviously they have more overhead than an online retailer, but they also have something an online retailer can't offer, face to face customer interaction and education. Our local Vape shops pride themselves in educating the masses on vaping and offer lounges where we can gather to vape away and just relax. I'll gladly support them by bringing in friends and sending people their way. I also buy all of my juice from them despite the high markups. Small price to pay in order to help them keep the doors open!

Congrats on joining the family!
The battery is good. SMOK makes good products. Hopefully you got more than one, else what are you going to use when the 1st is charging? If not, that's probably your next purchase, a backup, then another backup, then another.....just kidding......but not really.

The Trophy will do well for you, though I'm remiss to recommend any protank or the like, as I dont like them for flavor. Considering all you received, the $65 wasn't bad. My first "kit" was a couple clone batteries, 2 CE5s, a charger and a small bottle of juice for $99 +tax. Within 2 weeks, all were in the garbage.

I enjoyed my time with the shop staff. They took their time explaining things and made me feel they really appreciated my business. Since they are located in a small shopping center that has a supermarket where I often shop, I'll probably stop by on occasion and maybe purchase juice and small things like coils and any other hardware that they may have at a reasonable price.

It's funny you would mention the battery. My battery went dead about an hour ago. I was thinking why didn't I get 2? I have been spending a lot of time on this forum and other sites looking for information about vaping and before my battery went dead I knew I should have purchased at least 2. I still have my GreenSmoke ciga-like that I'm using in the meantime while my battery charges.

What are you using now that gives you more flavor?

I too just picked up a Smoktech Winder and a few iClear 16s from a B&M in Boulder, CO. I really like the Winder and I just recharge it at night and I'm good to go for the next day. Welcome and happy vaping!

I ordered a 1300mah Vision Spinner from online today. That way I will always have one charged. The price was less than the local shop's 900mah SMOK battery.

First Welcome to the WWoECF!!! Considering everything in your neck of the woods is more expensive, you didn't do terribly bad price-wise. Smok Winder is a good battery. Was very happy with it when I started vaping. Actually, still like it when I use it. It's relegated to back up status. Tho, I did use it on a recent trip to Fla where I needed something easier to take out than my Vamo or KTS.
