Hello again and welcome back for today's review of the smok Mag Solo Kit. This is a single battery device using either a 21700 or 18650 battery, a 18650 battery adapter comes pre installed in the mod. If your looking for a kit that has multiple power output modes then this device is not for you as wattage is the only power mode in it. Power output is 5-100 watts and this kit also introduces a new sub tank called the T-Air with new coils as well. The smok Mag Solo comes in many different colors and has 2 different textures to choose from. After some product info I'll give you my findings on this new kit from Smok, let's get started.

    FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Sorry for the long intro of the review but I wanted all of you to see all the features from the manufacturer, with that out of the way let's begin the review. The packaging is your standard box with the device resting in a plastic tray, below the tray sits the new T-Air sub tank, spare glass tube, 2nd coil ( 0.4Ω mesh ), USB-C charge cord, spare tank O-Rings and the user manual, battery warning card, safety warning paper and the warranty card.

There are 17 colors to choose from and I was sent the Nano Chrome one that I think is a very attractive color combo. The body of the device has a Satin Matt Chrome finish with a bronze colored inner bezel over a leather spine with 4 rows of white stitching, MAG SOLO is lightly embossed between stitches. I did all my testing using a 21700 battery so the 18650 battery adapter had to be removed from the battery tube, I did test it to see if it functions and it does.

Taking the tank apart for cleaning is easy, I always strip down any new atomizer and clean it in a warm soapy bath of Dawn dishwashing liquid to remove any left over oils from the machining process and you should do so as well, remember to remove the coil prior to the bath. When removing the coil you will see it has 2 tabs on each side that fit into the tank indents when reinstalling a coil. Preinstalled is the TA-0.2Ω mesh coil with a range of 50-70 watts best at 65.

I was very pleased to find out that you can use your own 810 drip tips on this tank, the supplied drip tip is very comfortable to use so I saw no need to use one of my own during testing. The top cap is a 1/8 twist which had me worried that it would come off when adjusting the airflow control ring because each .... up to each other very tightly, and it does untwist if adjusting the airflow counterclockwise, there are no hard stops of the airflow control ring so to be safe always turn it clockwise and you'll be fine. There are 2 large fill ports that should fit any size bottle tip.

The T-Air tank is a very airy tank so all you big air lovers will be very happy, the airflow control ring has a total of 32 air feed holes with 16 on each side, for me 4 holes open on each side gave a very nice RDL vape and that's where I left it during testing. During testing I carried it in my pocket without the airflow coming off it's setting or the top cap coming off, be sure it is tightly secured though.

Starting from the top of the mod the 510 pin is spring loaded with a somewhat stiff pin that has a decent throw to it and can fit up to a 32mm atomizer which is a nice bonus.

Coming down to the very bottom we find the battery door that is one of the best feeling bottom battery doors I've come across, it's very strong stiff spring should hold up for many years of use. There is zero play in the door and it has a negative battery polarity symbol on it, if you plan on using a 21700 battery you will need to remove the 18650 adapter that is inside the battery tube. There is also a positive battery symbol in red inside the battery tube.

One side of the device has the SMOK name embossed on the inner bezel covering the leather spine while the other side has no markings and is just plain. The inner Bronze colored bezel is a fingerprint magnet because of it's high gloss finish unlike the Satin Matt finish of the body.

Turning out attention to the face of the device you can see the oversized fire button that has a pleasing loud click when pressed, the adjustment buttons also have a nice click when pressed but are more toned down sound wise. In my pictures you see the protective sticker Smok puts on the display screen, I like to leave it on as long as I can protecting the plastic screen finish.

As far as the display screen goes it's very bright and you have the option of choosing your own color theme from the six colors offered, all of them look nice what do you think?

The display screen has all the information you could want on a mod and it's laid out very well with all the fonts, numbers and symbols large enough to see without squinting. I like that Smok put not only a battery bar on the device but also battery percentage as well. This is such a classy looking device in my opinion, at least the one that was sent to me is. ( FITS MY HAND PERFECTLY ).

    FINAL IMPRESSIONS

I will say that I could not find any cons other than the top cap that can come off very easily, it is a 1/8 of a turn not 1/4 turn as advertised. I found the flavor from both coils to be above average with my favorite being the 0.2Ω that showed 0.18Ω's when connected to the device.

I used a fruit flavor that I know very well in testing this kit and the flavor came across just as I know it. Vapor production is very high fogging up a room quickly.

As I mentioned in the review this is a very AIRY tank and for me I had to close it down to only 4 holes on each side to get a nice RDL vape, remember there are 32 holes on the airflow control ring. It does go through the 5mls of juice rather quickly as well.

I have reviewed many devices that use this type of battery door and I think this is one of the best out there. The Smok Mag Solo Kit is a big time winner in my book and I do recommend it .

I would like to thank Sue and Heathcabin for sending the Smok Mag Solo Kit for the purpose of my review and I would like to thank all of you that read my reviews.

    THANK YOU

I agree, I think this is one of the best Smok products to be released in quite some time. Being that it's part of the Mag line, I'm glad they made it less "pistol-grip"ish, so that thumb firers like myself can use it without the discomfort of using it backwards like in its previous iterations.

    Great review!
