The Rigel is a brand new sub ohm vape kit from Smoktech, the mod offers high performance, houses two external 18650 batteries and is capable of producing a maximum output of 230 watts.

Designed with a soft rubber coating and honeycomb texture, the Rigel kit is a fairly light (103g), portable and very durable device, available in six different colors.

The simplified chipset perfectly combines performance, ease of use and safety, has a reaction time to the Fire button of only 0.001 seconds, the charging port is Type-C 5V / 2A.

The Rigel is combined with the Smok TFV9 Sub-Ohm tank which contains up to 6.5ml of e-liquid (2ml TPD), has a convenient sliding filling system with safety lock.

The Rigel is available in six different colors, some with elegant shades of black to the bottom.
Black Red - Silver - Black Blue - Black - Black Green.

Rigel's parallelogram form factor with rounded corners is a fairly common classic in dual battery Mods, because it offers optimal use of space and good ergonomics.

The side panels are covered with a texture with a honeycomb design, similar to that of the Target and Gen by Vaporesso, the remaining areas are covered with a special soft and smooth rubberized paint.

The Rigel proves to be a light and very portable device, really pleasant to the touch.

At the front we find a large and comfortable Fire button, slightly protruding.
The color TFT screen measures 0.96 ".

The up / down adjustment keys are placed on a special rocker under the screen, finally at the bottom there is the Usb Type-C socket for charging.

The battery compartment cover is located on the back, on it at the bottom there is the writing Rigel.

The side view of the Rigel highlights a good assembly of the parts; both the back cover and the front panel.
In the side view of the front panel we can see the inserts in carbon look, which give a captivating touch to the whole.
In the image below highlighted by the arrow, we can see the hole for opening the Cover of batteries.

The top of the Mod highlights the 510 cup in the center, the cup is raised just enough to avoid damage to the paint when screwing / unscrewing the atomizer, the pin is floating and plated / gold.
On the Rigel we can use atomizers with a diameter of 29mm without protrusions.

The bottom of the mod features six vents for the cells, the C E mark, the disposal logo and the words "Designed by Smok".

The compartment / batteries is tidy and clean, the polarities are clearly marked, a convenient strap is provided to facilitate the extraction of the cells.
The cover of batteries is equipped with two excellent magnets and contains the warnings inside.

Smok TFV9 Tank:

The famous TFV8 Big-Baby gets a makeover and turns into the new SMOK TFV9.
This tank uses a 28mm diameter bubble Pyrex glass and can hold up to 6.5ml of liquid.
The Top-cap is child-resistant, prevents accidental opening through the slide-to-fill lifting system that guarantees simple and safe filling.
There are two air-flow slots, of large dimensions (16x3mm), centrally equipped with a 2mm wide crosspiece which simplifies the partialization by means of a ring nut.
According to Smok technicians, the air, thanks to the lowered position of these air-flows, invests the coil far below, increasing its aromatic return.

The contact pin on the bottom of the atomizer is plated / gold, slightly protruding.
Also on the bottom we also find the disposal logo and the C E brand.

The TFV9 Tank supports the new 0.15Ω Mesh-coil V9 Nichrome with 40-90W range, furthermore for a wide choice, the TFV9 is fully compatible with the entire range of coils for TFV8 Baby / Big Baby.

The 0.15Ω Coil V9 Mesh with 40-90W range is compatible with the old TFV8 Baby and this is good news for all Smok fans.
This coil in fact seems very valid and flexible in use, I find it very performing and reactive already at 40W. I used it during the test between 40 and 60W not feeling at all the need to push myself higher with the power. The airiness with the ring wide open is remarkable, I personally found the maximum aromatic yield with the AFC partialized to 50%! With the power used by me I believe that the Coil can last a long time and also the autonomy of the two 18650 cells benefits from it.

Smok Rigel Kit how it works:

On Rigel's 0.96 "color TFT screen, you can change the color of the fonts as you like, there are six colors available: red, yellow, purple, white, blue, green.

The screen shows all the information useful for vaping: level and percentage of residual charge of the cells, set power, Volt, Ohm, total number of puffs and length of the last puff.

- To turn the Mod on / off, click the Fire button five times in less than two seconds.
- Click the fire button three times in quick succession to lock / unlock the functions of the Mod.
- The Wattage is adjusted with the Up / Down buttons, from 1 to 230W with an increase / decrease of 1Watt at a time
- To lock / unlock the wattage press the up / down buttons together.
- Press the Down / Fire buttons together to reset the total number of Puffs.
- To choose one of the six available screen colors, press the Up / Fire buttons together.

The Rigel Chipset is simplified and really intuitive even for beginners. I find it very responsive to the Fire button, it is also fast in the settings, it seems to me that it manages the batteries quite well, the indications on the ohm of the coil and on the residual charge of the cells are precise.

Like all Modern Mods, the Rigel also adopts the Type-C charging port, Smok declares a fast, precise and balanced recharge, however I always recommend recharging your batteries with an external charger.

Rigel offers a good security compartment which includes:

- Short circuit protection
- Overheating protection
- Low charge protection

In conclusion, some functions are missing such as the Bypass and TC, however I liked this Kit a lot because it embodies the need for a powerful, agile, easy to use and classic looking mod. The TFV9 Tank is an updated TFV8 and works really well both in Cloud and in Flavor, it has a varied and almost infinite range of adaptable coils and this can be really comfortable! So if you are looking for all this, I am pleased to recommend the Rigel 230W kit.
