I didn't see a thread for this yet, maybe it doesn't need one. I think it deserves one though.

Smok recently updated their VCT tank with a "Pro" model. This tank is meant to compete with the other high wattage sub ohm tanks on the market, Arctic, Starre, Matrix, Herakles, Atlantis V2, etc. It does just that, its every bit as good, if not better than any of those other prior mentioned tanks. Airflow for days, flavor, vapor, it is excellent thus far (still in honeymoon stage for me).

More marketing info / images on the Smoktech product pages, I'm not going to copy paste all of it, I'm not trying to sell you one of these. Just wanted a place for owners to rave about the tank / hate on it / give impressions, etc.

FWIW, PBusardo did a sub-ohm tank shootout a couple weeks ago, and had some very positive things to say about the VCT Pro. You know if it had issues, Phil would find a way to nick pick it to death.

As I mentioned I'm still in the honeymoon stage, but I really like this tank, its darn good. About any of these high wattage clearos are darn good though, I've tried the Arctic, Starre, Atlantis V2, and Herakles, and they all are good. I went with the Smok VCT Pro because it was cheap, and I've at least heard of the brand before, unlike some of the other prior mentioned tanks. Hopefully that ensures the coils will be readily available for some time, I know at least one of my B&Ms typically stocks Smok stuff, but only time will tell on that one.

I'll post a follow up in a couple days after I spend some more time with it and post a mini-review / more info regarding coil life, pros / cons, maybe some pics.

Apparently ECF has no love for the VCT Pro, haha. Oh well. Reporting back after a week of use anyway for a quick review / update on my initial impressions.

I used this tank almost exclusively last week. This was all I used Mon-Fri until my lemo 2 showed up, and I played with that over the weekend (disappointed with that one), while still using the VCT pro intermittently over the weekend. I must say I am still as impressed as I was in my last post.

I've been using the included 0.2 ohm coil, primarily around 50W-55W, that is where I like it for flavor, and vapor production, and juice consumption. I have tested it up to 80W, vape was warmer, really good vapor, close to that warm dense RDA experience, but I felt like it wasn't necessary all the time. 60-65W was good too, but to save a bit of battery life, and juice, I stuck with around 55W most of the time. One time I accidentally hit it well over 100W momentarily, not meaning to, my sig150W was being janky and sent over 5V to the .2ohm coil, thankfully it didn't mess up the coil.

The 0.2 ohm coil is still going strong about a week later, hasn't dropped off in flavor or vapor yet. The coils seem to keep up nicely with 70-80VG, I've used up to 90VG in it, but it didn't quite keep up enough to chain vape with 90VG. Wick still looks white on the outside, while it has discolored a bit on the inside, doesn't look like its toast yet, so I am happy with that. My Kanger OCCs would only last a couple days for me at much lower wattage before they would start to look worse than this one after a week.

I had to turn the flash on my cell phone camera to get a shot of the inside of the coil.

I don't have much else to say about this thing, its nice, no leaks yet, works well for me. About the only cons I can say are the included drip tip is a bit wobbly, and the AFC ring could be considered a bit loose, I actually like how it is, but I could see some people wanting a bit more resistance.

TLDR; Pros / Cons
Pros: Tested up to 80W with success
Great flavor, vapor
5ML juice capacity
AIRFLOW for days
Descent coil life

Cons: Wobbly drip tip included
Loose AFC ring
Not much vapor production under 40W on the .2ohm coil

I have heard SMOK is making a RBA head for it to allow you to build your own coils for it, I would really like to try that if it ever comes out.

I have seen multiple vendors start to stock the regular coils, cheapest I found for the 5-pack was $10.50 from heavengifts (China), and $12.95 here in the States from sweet-vapes.com. Not too bad for a pack of sub-ohm coils.

-------------

Also since my last post, I did notice SMOK is releasing a "new" tank, the TCT "Temperature Control Tank", which looks almost exactly like the VCT Pro, but comes with 0.15 ohm nickel dual vertical coils. Oh, and green o-rings.

To me that is excellent news, I will be ordering a pack of the 0.15 ni200 coils to try on my SX Mini once a few vendors get them in stock. I couldn't find anybody that has them yet, or the TCT yet for that matter, but I guess this could be the VCT Pro / TCT thread. Once I get a pack of the 0.15 ni200 coils I'll definitely post back my impressions.

That's what I was concerned about, the wobbly drip tip from the last VCT. I wonder if these coils are interchangeable with the rest? I love the Starre tank for that reason...besides the flavor, 5ml capacity and vapor...Atlantis v1 v2 Nic coils, Melo, Maganus, Herakles all work in this tank. I think I'm done with tanks seeing as this Starre checks all boxes for me. A tank would have to be revolutionary for me to fork over more money for exclusive coils.

The VCT Pro coils are not interchangeable with the older VCT, or GCT. I should have mentioned that, good call.

My other drip tips aren't wobbly, so its not a huge deal for me. I think a slightly larger o-ring may help with the stock drip tip.

Yeah, I don't think this is any better than the starre. If you're happy with that one, then enjoy it. ;)

Just wanna drop in and say I LOVE this tank! I broke my original and bought a Kanger subtank because ECF seemed to love it, I was let down. After three days I bought the VCT Pro again and am a happy vaper! :vapor:

Great review!
I agree, I like this way more than the subtank.
Thanks.

I've pre ordered the tfv4, I think that's where all the interest is, in saying that, it looks like a good tank ..
Yeah, the tfv4 does look nice, I'll probably get one too. I still like the VCT pro for what it is, it is simple and works well. They have dropped in price around US vendors too.
