With the server update here at the forum, somehow I missed my 30-day anniversary. I have now been smoke-free for 30 days, well actually now it's 31.

Things I have not missed:
  • dirty ashtrays to empty
  • cigarette burns on furniture, clothing, and me (ouch!)
  • waking up in the morning with that "just licked an ashtray" bad breath taste in my mouth
  • the morning cough-your-head-off-until-you-feel-like-you're-dying cough
  • running to the convenience store in the middle of the night because I just smoked my last cigarette
  • stale tobacco smoke smell on everything, even me and my dog
  • the sinus infections and sinus headaches
The health benefits I have gained in only one month:
  • Breathing easier
  • More energy
  • Allergies not as severe
  • Lower blood pressure and pulse
  • sense of taste and smell have returned
All in all, everything is working out great. But I think I'm now more addicted to vaping than I was to smoking, at least I seem to do it more often. Oh well, at least with this trade-off, I gave up around 4,000 poisonous chemicals.

It's funny, today was the first day that I really craved a cigarette. So I vaped like crazy all day. But wonder why I wanted it now after not having one for a month?

Hey! Congrats!

I'm only on day 12 so far of NO ciggies...
I was having one in the morning, or late at night for a week or so at first.

Used to ( heh... used to. ) 'roll my own' with a cig machine to save monies..
Still gots all the stuff. Scared to get rid of em'. but thinking about it...

I keep walking out the door in the mornings, thinking I'm forgetting something.
Checking my pockets for a lighter, etc.. or driving along, and reaching into the
passenger seat for ..something..

Pretty casual at work, where instead of going outside for a quick smoke,
I can sit inside, and take a draw off my PV when the urge hits, without any flak..
Get more done..
Stay in the A/C..
coworkers don't mind, and frequently inquire.

Anyway. Best of luck, and stick with it.. Look at your numbers in your banner!
WooHoo!

Congratulations on your 1 month anniversary, Moonstruck.

You're doing awesome, too vinyl. I'm only on day 4, but pleased as can be about that.

"Used to ( heh... used to. ) 'roll my own' with a cig machine to save monies..

Me too. And a couple nights ago, I jumped up out of my chair, walked over to where I rolled my own and lo and behold, said: WTF am I doing standing here? And I've even put away the tobacco and rolling machine, it's not even on the table anymore where I had them

I guess this just goes to show how much of this is just habit. It was weird, though. I didn't like that, made me feel like a crazy person.

I still walk over to my "junk" drawer in the kitchen to look for a lighter, LOL!

There are so many things wrapped up in our smoking addiction ... no wonder all those patches, gum, and lozenges never worked. At least with vaping, you keep the hand-to-mouth action. Plus the "simulated" smoke really helps, too.

You're both doing great; we all have to start with Day 1. Even if I decide to have a cigarette now, so what. I've proven to myself that I can do this thing, so it's one day at a time. :D

Congratulations Moonstruck! Funny thing, I actually thought about a real cig today too - I wonder if it is a full moon or something! lol This was honestly the first day I even thought about smoking. Not a strong urge or anything, but it was wierd! I know if I had broke down and had one I would have taken one puff and had a coughing fit! lol Bleh! Nasty things! :) Maybe we are reaching that point that we have forgotten how nasty they taste???

Congrats, and I agree with you on the hand/mouth action, I think the "smoke" has something to do with it to. I hit my first month on the 4th, I started with the 510, then ordered 2 extra kits, plus extra addys and batt's in case of the ban. Then I checked this site out, and bought the big kit from phiesty. After that, I needed to place an order with Steve for the flavors I would like. I have to tell you, this is so much easier, but I'm only into it less than 24 hours. All I know is all of this has become an expensive addiction, lol. Hopefully I can start to break even in the next year.

You are so right, Moonstruck! When my friend told me about ecigs, I never dreamed it would work so well. And if we are too strict with ourselves, it sets us up for failure, kind of like trying to diet. You restrict yourself too much and you fall off the wagon, I feel the same way about this in a convoluted sort of way, if I really want to have one I will, also. It IS one day at a time. Just knowing that I can, seems to make it easier not to do it. And I have been thinking about having one today and I do not know why either.

Thanks, JenJen. Yea, I think you're right. It's been long enough that I have really forgotten what they taste like. After 38+ years of smoking, I didn't think this day would ever come.

I've had a break from the smell for a couple of weeks now. My 77-yr-old mom usually spends week-ends with me (she's a chain smoker). But I've been sick with a cold, and so has she, so she stayed at home for the last couple of weeks. Her smoking around me is really starting to bother me, and I'm not quite sure yet how I'm going to handle this issue. She's been smoking for over 60 years, and she's used to smoking in my apartment.

I've been trying to get her on the VKs, but she claims they make her chest hurt. I'll try again when Steve gets the VG in. But I don't think PG/VG has anything to do with it really. She's in the beginning stages of dementia, and sometimes she's just contrary and hard to get along with. I try not to take her behavior seriously, since I know she can't help it. But the cigarette smell might become a real test for me.
