A few weeks ago I ordered a bunch of materials to rebuild all of the old Evod BCCs that I have laying around. I have 1 & 2mm "glassfibre wick".. kanthal & nichrome wire, etc. The thing is.. I was getting some really weird taste from these coils I've been building.. regardless if it was kanthal or nichrome.
So I started dry burning them and noticed a lot of smoke coming from the coil. It would eventually go away after a dozen or so 2 second bursts. Someone in a youtube video suggested it was machine oils burning off the coil (just a standard byproduct of manufacturing). But the thing is.. after dry burning, if I pull the glassfibre wick down a little bit, say a centimeter... it starts to smoke just like before.
So it seems its the wick that's smoking...is that normal?
