Smoker looking to turn to Vaping!

Hello everyone. I'm 24 and have been smoking for nearly 10 years, not incredibly heavy....but between 7-15 a day usually. Tried vaping once before, but it was a petrol station pen, and I did manage to cut down. But eliquid starting leaking into my mouth (yuck!) and I gave it up as a bad job.

Anyway! I recently purchased the itaste v3, and now just waiting on delivery. Was this a good purchase? Anything I can do to make this a better experience? new to all this, and also need help with a lot of the abbreviations!

Thankyou for reading!

Good luck with quitting, Alex, and congratulations for the decision! Don't keep smoking for decades like some of us did! I love the iTazte v3's and have one of each color!! :) They ought to do it for you - many of us quit just like that on something similar. Best of luck!! Keep us informed of your progress!

Hi vahvickerman, welcome to the forum. The V3 is a great battery for any vaper. The only issue that some have with them is that they are only 800 mAh which often means a charge halfway through the day. However as you have said you were a light smoker, they should work fine for your needs.

The battery is only a third of the equation though. Which topper (clearomizer / tank / carto / atomizer) did you get and do you have an e-liquid that you like?

As for making it a better experience, you've already taken the first step, which is to purchase the best equipment you can afford.

Once you've found what works for you, I'd highly recommend making sure you have backups for all your equipment as well as having access to a supply of e-liquid. The last thing you want is to be in a nic fit with equipment that doesn't work - that's when it's easier to reach for the smokes.

Finally, you've found a great source of information right here on ECF. Among others, there are forum threads dedicated to the V3 as well as a UK Forum

Welcome to the forum!

I'd say a good starting point. The key is going to be finding a good e-liquid that you enjoy. That can be a bit tricky. Once you do that you'll be fine. I'd check out the UK forum or the E-Liquid forum for suggestions. Buy small size bottles or sampler sizes. When you first start vaping your taste buds are changing and what you hate today, you may find you love tomorrow.

Good luck!

Check out the ECF Library and if you have questions about anything, just ask! That's what we're here for.

As a newbie my self (got into vaping with pen style vapes 3 weeks ago) you will NOT be disappointed. I smoked a pack+ a day over 10 years and WOOHOO this is MUCH more satisfying then cancer sticks. I also transitioned from 24mg to 16mg and now 6mg You might also find yourself going nuts over voltage settings.... Just start low and bump it up slowly. Find that sweet spot and enjoy!

*Currently using a evod-ipow 650mAh VV batt on 4.3V with aerotank mini V2 air flow control sucking on 6mg juice*

Welcome folks!

Sounds like everyone has some good things with which to start whipping the cigarettes into submission :)

Ask all the questions you want/need. Lots of wonderful people out here who are quite helpful (I've been smoke-free for almost 5 months, and I *still* need help and can get it here :) )

I just got a kanger evod in the mail yesterday (not a top of the line setup but its what I could afford) I have not had a analog in 9 days and surprisingly enough I don't even have a desire to smoke one. Hang in there you can do it!
Nothing wrong with evods, those are what made me really start to enjoy vaping, started with a Ego-c kit, did the job but evods changed the game for me. Still have 5 or 6, now backups, now use mini protank 2, and larger on vv/vw mods.

Im new to vaping as of today and just got in a innokin VV V3 as a backup, I currently have an Aerotank on it and Im loving it so far. My only complaint if some of the numbers on the screen dont work right and Im addressing that with the seller as it popped up as authentic on the innokin site. Happy Vaping!

Yeah I think the iTaste line is a good one. Then again, I'm an Innokin fan. Have a VTR myself. The VV V3.0 is a nice little device. Not enough power for myself as I was a heavy smoker but may fit the bill for a light smoker just fine. Definitely better than gas station (okay, petrol station :) ) crap.

Definitely pop over to the UK section for more on the "landscape" on your side of the pond. A good local vape shop can be helpful. Especially at the start when you'll be "sampling" different juices.

(You do need at least 5 posts here in New Members before you could post over in the UK forum. Don't hesitate to ask questions here if you have them. Plenty of "long timers" hanging out in New Members to help out.)

But, yes, Innokin's devices are way, way better than the cheap stuff you find in strip malls and gas stations...

Congrats to getting started, this site helped me tremendously when I started, and still does. Lots of good folks here to help.

For a tank, I suggest a mini protank 2, or an evod. Both use the same coils, and can be rebuilt to save money, and trips to a shop.

Could someone explain this tank stuff to me? And the differences between them?

Firstly, welcome to ECF and good luck with your future journey into vaping. As for your PV/APV purchase, it's a lovely start. In terms of your tanks, there are two types that are super important, really. The bottom coils and the top coils. Bottom coils would be like the Aspire Nautilus, Kangertech Evod, Kangertech Protank 1, 2, 3 and the mini versions of each, Kangertech Aerotank and the other versions of it. Top coil tanks are typically plastic and I can't name many of them as I don't use them, I'm fairly certain that CE4 tanks and possibly the iclear tanks are top coils. Bottom coil tanks wick easier and give better taste, imo. Top coil tanks...ehhh, they're easier to refill, but that's about it imo. Then you have your glass tanks, plastic tanks and stainless steel tanks. Plastic tanks are good if you think you may drop it as they won't break. However, certain juices can eat through them and you'll have to buy another. They are the worst tanks, imo. Glass tanks are much more breakable than plastic tanks, however, they provide better taste and will not typically crack with most juices. Stainless steel tanks are typically a mod for certain glass tanks. They are essentially top of the line (They tend to cost the same price as the full glass tank). The stainless steel tanks are the best of both worlds. They give good taste and if you drop them they won't break. Now, you've got your dual coils and single coils. The main difference here is that a dual coil produces more vapor and tends to produce warmer vapor. A single coil, however, is easier to deal with and typically cheaper. The ohms of a coil determine what voltage you can safely vape at. Typically, a lower ohm coil tends to provide more vapor and better taste as long as you don't overdo it with the voltage because it will burn the juice if you do.

Pretty long post, but I hope it answered some of your questions.

I would highly recommend seeking out an actual e-cig (or vapor, as their sometimes called) store. Many of them will let you try out a few different flavors before you buy and if something does go wrong with a purchase you make, you will be able to take it back to them and have them either fix it or replace it. Obviously, you will find better prices online, but if you have the option; a retail store is a great choice until you know what you're doing.
