How are ya guys,

So i've stopped smoking analogs and moved to vaping around a week ago. I'm pretty commited and don't even have such a hard time stopping, not much physical symptoms, and the psychological.. Well, vaping is the one that helps me with that.

So i was so committed to quitting that i've decided to DO smoke 1 analog. Not from cravings, but just to see how it feels, as so much people reported it being gross and such after a week or so.

Conclusions (The bad and the good):
1. The smell wasn't so terrible, maybe for the first hit, but it went away pretty fast.
2. The instant i finished it, my breathing got much much heavier. Like it got infected. (Just shows how much smoking actually damages stuff..)
3. I felt kind of a rush. Like kind of a full body rush and getting pretty high for a few minutes. This one was more creepy, altho looking at it completely scientificly - i wonder if its the body craving them without me acknowledging it, or is it more kind of a 'first serious nicotine hit after a little while, which gave me that initial rush that got me sucked into them for the first place. (I vape the lowest 6mg level)

I still don't feel like smoking. Not for any specific reason (My decision to quit smoking was purely out of i'm pretty healthy now, lets keep it that way), and i pretty much decided to stop without even thinking it threw - kind of enough is enough.

I just wonder what your guys thoughts are about the 3rd 'symptom' are and if you guys consider the occational smoke to be a failure of some sort?

That feeling, the third thing you're talking about, is primarily the other chemicals that are present in cigarettes that aren't present in e-cigarettes. In e-cigarettes we've narrowed down our ingredients to the flavoring, straight nicotine, and PG/VG. In cigarettes there are thousands (I think upwards of 4000) other chemicals present, many of which have known psychoactive effects. The "high" you got after your cigarette was likely a result of that.

When I was smoking, that "high" would be especially present if I'd go a period of time without smoking (like, god forbid, 12 hours).

A lot of people have resorted to "WTA" e-liquids (whole tobacco alkaloid) as they supposedly provide more of that tobacco "high", and it doesn't necessarily have to include the tons of other chemicals in cigarettes. That said, I've also read some questionability in regards to the safety of vaping WTA e-liquids.

Lastly, e-cigarettes are primarily a psychological addiction, there isn't much physical aspect related to it (although some people do report certain aspects of withdrawal that are sort of anomalous). It's a tough addiction, and it sort of has a "slippery slope" effect.

In the 2 years I've been vaping I've had a cigarette once or twice, both in situations where vaping wouldn't have been possible but having a cigarette was totally possible (ie: in the rain whilst camping -- batteries were already dead, and I was afraid of getting my mech mod wet so I left it in my car).

A lot of people claim that the cigarette they have after vaping is very "nasty" and they say, "I didn't even like it!" -- Maybe that's true for them, but I think it's more likely the [good] part of their brain telling themselves that this is a gross habit and they've already moved past it, and now their mind carries a negative association with cigarettes that they may not have carried when they were full-blown smokers. I can't lie, the cigarettes I've had when I slipped tasted fantastic, and I loved/missed the mellow high that is kind of hard to get from an e-cigarette.

When I'm really craving some nicotine I'll drip literally 2 drops of 24mg nic on my RDA and then drip 8 or so drops of regular 3mg nic liquid. That usually gives me the blast I need in 5 hits or so, and usually leaves me with a nice buzz somewhat reminiscent of the cigarette buzz.

I quit on a whim in January. I was just done. I accidentally knocked my ash tray over and burned myself. I had just gotten some coupons in the mail for one of the bt vape things and I tried it and it was horrible. But I saw it had promise. I then overpaid for a device I outgrew in 2 weeks and found the forum lol

Anyways, I haven't tried smoking since. I lit one, but the smell was pretty bad. I still have a carton sitting next to me in a drawer, but I doubt I'll ever smoke it. I don't think it's a failure to smoke a cig. It's not a race to quit, nobody is timing you or keeping track, and honestly, nobody really cares haha it's all about what you want.

As for the rush, cigarettes have thousands of chemicals and all of them are designed to make the nicotine hit more desirable.

Mostly likely it was the carbon monoxide.

So watcha guys think about the ocassional slip ups?
We have a saying here on the forum when people are trying to quit but have a failing moment:

"It not so important how many cigarettes you smoked today, it's how many you DIDN'T SMOKE that is important." Keep it positive. :thumb:

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I know someone on another forum who's been vaping for several years and still smokes her regular cigarettes as well, but only half as many as she used to smoke. She considers this a HUGE success because she's cut her smoking in half. And she's right, it IS a huge success, for her. For myself, I wouldn't want to go back. I feel too much better without the smoke. I also quit a week ago, and the difference I've felt in my breathing and stamina are incredible. Yeah, it was a constant assault on my system when I smoked cigarettes, and I don't ever want to go back there, so I'm not going to. I don't need them anymore anyway, with the e-cig. I have FIVE and a half cartons sitting on the shelf that I'll probably never smoke (I hope I don't, anyway).

I started vape on a whim. The last unopened pack of cigs is in the back of one of my kitchen cabinets with my original starter kit. My trophy's. I haven't "slipped" and don't intend to, as I have cut my nicotine down to 3 and zero. The hand addiction has been tougher to correct than the desire for a cig. Hang in there and good luck, 90% is desire.

Quitting smoking is a lifestyle change. Smoking is very habitual, and easy. Go to the store and light a stick on fire. Quitting cold turkey is hard because of how easy it is to smoke. Vaping has a huge leaning curve, and is a costly experience to start, and for most of us is still costly. Being in NY, and coming from a pack and a half a day, I can rationalize buying 100 bucks worth of gear by telling my gf it's just a weeks worth of cigarettes and even if it lasts me 2 weeks I'm still making 100 bucks on it. That doesn't work well after the third big purchase in a month, but it helps. Vaping is exploding now, new devices are coming out every week and it's hard to keep up because the obsolete products are still being marketed on the vape sites too. So after the learning curve and expenses and all that, it can very much take the habitual place of your cigarettes. But it's not easy so I don't look down on anyone for slipping up. It's none of my business and I totally understand it.

I've been vaping for six years now.
I don't slip up, I make an occasional decision to have a smoke when I feel like it.

I have maybe four or five a year at this point...
Just because I feel like it, and because I can.

funny little question I never intended to quit but then I did the last 1/2 cig I had over three months ago was mega gross and tasted like sh... I do have a pack sitting somewhere don't have any desire to if I really wanted to I suppose I would but I smoked for 40 plus years taking in 30 to 35 cigs a day I guess truthfully I would have to have an extremely strong urge to smoke can't see it happening but who knows I do keep a back up on my person at all times I have cut down from 18 mg nic to 12 mg not even sure why it just happened I suspect the just reaching for something to get that relaxed feeling is what would be the hardest for me to give up I would kind of like to know what my blood nic/contine level is though

Hey Caro123, I've seen you around quite a bit lately.

I generally like your posts for the most part.
You often have interesting stuff to say, and you have passion.

But I really must ask at this point...
Do you have a period anywhere on your typing apparatus?

I quit analogs at the end of February this year. 30 days off analogs I tried one...took 3 hits and put it out. Tasted nasty. A few hours later I tried it again and took 3 hits and put it out. When I quit and started vaping I had about half a pack of cigs left which I put away in my closet...just couldn't throw them out, needed that security that they were still there, but after trying those two cigs I threw the remainder of the pack away, didn't need that security of them being in the house. Every once in awhile the urge of the cig comes into my brain and then it goes away within a few seconds. I don't want to ever smoke again and vaping has helped me to quit. Am I saving money....maybe, I started with spinners and Nauti mini's and have moved on to the Kbox and istick 50 to use with my Nauti mini's. Do I feel better...yep. A week into vaping and I quit a cough that I couldn't shake from being sick this winter.

Having chosen to use (not resorted) WTA for four years and actually been interested enough to keep up with what is does for people in real life as opposed to speculation, what it can do for many people is help with cravings. Only very rarely users have reported any type of rush, the preponderance of reported physical effects have been a long term sense of satisfaction and calm.

There has been no evidence of WTA having any safety concerns over and above nicotine-only eliquid.
