I just got my first cartomizer tank and I am having issues. I filled it as instructed and put it on my Joye ego (which they told me would work with it) and the first draw was horrible. No vapor and tasted like burning. So I set it down for a longer amount of time. Tried again and get very little vapor and nothing that tastes like peppermint for sure. I followed the directions on the video...any ideas? I don't like this at all :(

You know, I just started using the same tank and I have to admit that my flavor has become less from when I was using my V2 with an 808 carto. I think maybe the hole in the side may not be big enough. But it's new so of course I do not want to drill it! I think it helps if I occasionally drip into the top of the carto as I did with my 808. Which sucks cause then I still have to keep juice on me. I have been trying my best for feedback on this to and so far alot of people on here just said it is because different carto's taste different. I mean does not taste bad or burnt, but different and less flavor. Hopefully one of us will get a better answer on this. Let me know, hope I helped somehow. -Cru

I would think the taste was just different but there is NO vapor just a weird taste :(

You know, one guy mentioned that the coils could be too wet, and suggested using another fresh carto, filling just the carto and putting it on an empty tank. Seems to defeat the purpose, but maybe I flooded mine when I dripped the top, although the video I watched said to drip the top on first fill! Now I am hearing about all these flavors I like that will crack my tank if used. Not for sure I made the right move here, for I invested in a big battery mod to be able to use a tank! That is strange you are getting no vapor. Wonder if it is not right for your ego? I would say if you didn't soak the top too on your fill to try that, for I still think the side hole is a bit small, plus do you vape a lot of VG? -Cru

It sounds like you didn't get the fulval/filling inside the cartomizer completely wet. Once you burn a cartomizer it is toast, toss it. What I'll do with a new cart is to take my time filling it. A couple drops inside the cart and I'll set it down. In a few minutes I'll put a couple more drops and set it aside. Eventually instead of dry filling you'll notice that juice isn't soaking in anymore and there will be a small pool on top of the filling. This process may take me half an hour. For some reason the filling seems to repel the juice until it has been saturated once fully. At this point you may have some liquid dripping out the bottom of the cart, just blow it out on a paper towel. Then I'll lubricate (few drops of e-juice) the rubber o-rings at both ends of the tank. Twist your cartomizer into the tank, the lubrication should make insertion pretty easy. Then fill your tank and push/twist the cartomizer until fully seated in the tank. Again you can blow out any juice that has entered the center tube of the cart. Take is easy cause if you blow to hard you'll create a siphon action and start sucking your e liquid out of the tank. When every thing is working for ya the suction of you vaping will draw juice from the tank into the cartomizer.
I've found the one hole carts work pretty good, if you're heavy on the VG you may want to try the three hole variety.

I think maybe the hole in the side may not be big enough

I wouldn't enlarge the holes, I did and then ended up with a flooded mess. I ended up tossing the cart cause it was unusable.

hope his helps

ok, I will toss it and try again :)

Do I have to toss the whole thing tank or can I purchase more of the part I blew? since it is inside and not visible, how do I know if the juice is soaking in? The video I watched he just filled up the tank and said to wait a few minutes which I did. I also dropped 10 drops into the tip like he suggested.

can I empty out the juice and use it or is it contaminated?

The thing about these carto tanks is they know when someone is new to tanks and they want to um...screw with them a little. Almost nobody gets a tank to work the first time or two or three.. you have to work with them for months until they finally give up and work. That's how it seems anyway.

I've had all the problems you're having and more. I gave up and tried again, gave up and tried again. would get one to work for awhile and think I had it all figured out and the second I tried to give advice, it would wake up and flood. Really. No lie.

I have no problems now. (But you can bet that since I typed that the next time I pick up my PV with a tank on it... juice will leak out all over me) Seriously. No lie. That's how it seems anyway.

But I kept at it and am glad I did. I can't imagine vaping without a tank now (other than when I use my bottom feeder but that's another story) I guess the one thing that helped me the most was finally figuring out what condom filling was. I'd heard about it for the last couple years but never thought much about it.. sounded messy. But then I watched this video and thought...Hey.. that looks easy. It is. My routine now is a punch a carto. I currently use the xxl boge 3 ohm single coil carto. I first try with my saddle valve and if it's not in the mood to work I take my carto out back and hit it with a hammer and screw. So I punch one largish hole. Then I condom fill it. Then I stick it in a tank. I'm currently using a polypropylene dctank I got from a co-op (she said that they're the same exact ones that Liberty-Flights sells) Polypropylene stands up to those juices that are known to crack the polycarbonite tanks. Anyway, after sticking it in a tank I fill the tank by pushing the batt end down into the tank just a bit and filling with a blunt needle syringe. Slide the carto back through the hole. It's ready to vape. Sometimes the carto will vape and wick great right off the bat. Sometimes (like with the one I just started using) I need to take dry hits everyonce in a while for awhile. Suck on your carto without firing the PV.. this will help pull the juice up through the hole into the carto.

I used to swear by using fill holes, you know those tanks that have a hole with a screw in them. I even bought bunches of screws and spent weeks finding out which screw would fit what hole. Then I finally found it was easier to ditch the fill hole and fill the tank the way I described above. Some cartos wick better than others.. some need some dry hits. Some don't.

My problem was more with flooding. If air is getting into your tank as you vape, excess air pressure in the tank will eventually (and quickly) force the juice through the punched hole and into your lap. I used to have that problem a lot when I used the grommet style tanks (sub and chibi tanks) but since I started using the dctanks.. I haven't had that problem.. yet.

If you are getting horrible burnt taste and no vapor.. your juice isn't getting where it need to get.

This has been my experience with tanks. I hope I helped a little. Good Luck.

Hey Thanks bud. Yea I decided to skip it. But when you say heavy on the VG, do you think 50% is heavy?

BTW way Victorian, you are very welcome! Hey, I am relatively new to these tanks. But I agree, I am almost starting to really hate it when I have no tank. Always worried about dry-burning my carto's cause I can't remember when I last topped off, or catch myself out without juice or something. Just my 2 cents.

I run a 60/40 min in mine, taryn spin to fill the carto load in the tank, top it off and vape on. So far no issues I refill the tank when it is about a 1/4 full and have been getting about 6 tanks through the carto until I need to change it out. Fairly clear peaches and cream juice from madvapes has been by choice for about 3 weeks now.

I use the drip method to fill my carto (having the flange on the bottom pretty much makes that the only choice) and I know that approximately 40 drops goes into it. I drip three at a time, wait until it soaks and repeat until I'm at 36 drops. Then I put them in one by one until it doesn't soak up anymore. Having burned my first 2 cartos when I first started using a tank, I got the great advice to also do a couple of puffs without turning on my device. I've never had a problem after that.

Also, I use 100% vg and making the hole bigger makes a big difference. I don't think it makes a difference with a stronger pg mix though.
