I use the "drip & flick" method that Rocket uses. I also put a wood toothpick into the center air hole to prevent juice from getting into it while I'm priming. The filler has to end up looking like a wet slushy drink when fully primed. Saturated but not pooling on top. Look up my cartotank tutorial in my Blog Entries by clicking the link under my avatar.

I've found dual coils often get a burnt taste. My reasoning is the top coil will end up burning the filler because it lies above the wick holes on the carto. Switch to single coil cartos and you won't get the burnt taste.

Hi guys me again, Ok it might be how I prime it.

I use a toothpick, pour juice in, shake, juice, shake, until it drips out of the bottom hole, take toothpick out, suck and blow to make sure it's not clogged a bit, then put it in the tank and fill, and I am finding they don't last long, maybe a few days and they become hard to draw on and give very little vapor. it's probably the priming, still working on it.

the juice is 50/50 18mg winston ejuice, it's not bad now, at 4.2 volts, but could be better. but yeah I actually like single coil carto's better.

Its actually a combination of factors...

Part of it is definitely in the priming. The shakedown method works best for dual coil cartos. Would not reccomend thingy or condom methods for dual coils.

Why?

The other half of the problem is the dual coil carto itself. The second coil is noticibly higher than the juice holes in the sides of the carto. Anyone who's veaped on a carto tank knows that the top of the filler dries out, even though the coil is still getting plenty of juice. On a relatively large percentage of dual coil cartos, at least the top part of the top coil dries out too much, resulting in a burning flavor.

Also - these cartos are more prone to having an area of coil at the right temperature to carmelize the sugars and related compounds in flavorings, resulting in clogging faster.

Finally - I had nightmarish experiences using the cheap DCT's from Smoke. Constatntly going from flooded to burnt, back to flooded, never really spending a decent amount of time at any happy medium. I had written carto tanks off entirely as a bad idea until I tried an IBTanked.

I had to stop the shake method. Too much for my wrists plus I have tendonitis in my shoulder. I push half a round toothpick down the center. Add juice. Blow. The juice soaks in quick. Repeat until my dual punched holes start to "cry". Repeat one more time. Done. 2 Minutes and worked perfect for me so far.

For 2 years I only used the smoketech 2ohm dualcoils with espresso juice at 5.2-5.3v. The trick was you have to get them totally packed with juice from the start or once they burn they are done. I had the best luck using a syringe to fill the carto that first time. Even after that when it started feeling dry I would pull off my drip tip and drop in a few drops of liquid. Also, I loaded a fresh carto every day or every other at the most. The juice I used was 60pg/40vg and I used the ones with 3 holes.

I ended up changing my all day vape to a cinnamon flavor and the dualcoils just didn't do as well so I switched over to boge single coil 801 cartos and IBT tanks. I have a ton of the Boge 510 cartos but they don't seem to wick as well the 801's for me.

How are u using the thingy with a non flanged carto? Mine always pushed the cartos out of place

That happens to me too. I just take the tank out of the thingy and push the carto back down after 2 or three "fiddles" and then put it back and repeat as necessary. A little more time consuming than with the flanged cartos but still easier for me than the thermometer method.

Your problem could be the 50/50 juice ratio. What delivery device/juice combo has worked successfully for you in the past? What has changed since then? Are you using Kanger branded coils in your tank or generics? Have you used SmokTek dual coil cartos with good results in the past? What has changed since then?

I normally don't quote long post(tapatalk ) but thank you. This information Should be stickied somewhere.

I always figured dual coils dried at the top.
