I have one in black and it does everything that it is suppose to do. I normally use the watts preference mode but you can use vv or vw, has an ohm checker, battery checker and just works. Probably the only thing I could say negative is that in bright light it is hard to see the LED screen other than that is just does what it is suppose to do. It has an adjustable top collar for when I run a protank i can screw the protank just enough to make connection and unscrew the top collar up to the PT base to tighten. The air flow is better that way than if I try to just tighten the PT down as far as it will go. I love mine.

Late to the party as usual but my SID was my first step up from my Ego. Still have it, still use it almost every day.

The one thing to watch out for is the button. Aside from firing it the button also works the menu. If you do not press it firm (thereby making intermittent contact) or you rapid fire vape from it you may set it to the menu mode which will make it stop firing and start changing whatever menu item your in (the first menu item is wattage/voltage up). I have burned a coil by accidentally cranking it way up.

I experienced this a few times the first couple days but after understanding it I have not had it happen again and still enjoy it to this day even though I now have mods that cost 5 times more money.

I got mine today!
This is my first APV .
Been only using it for a few hours. Pbusardo does a good review on them.
Some have had problems with it when it first came out, so be sure to buy from a reputable vendor. Maybe SmokTech has all the qc issues worked out
Mine is black, but not rubberized ego finish like id hoped. Oh well. Seems to be a solid unit.
I didn't think the menu was tricky IMO.
Also, people talk about crunchy threads. They aren't perfect, but I didn't have nearly the crunch people were describing. Again, I think smoktrch may have worked out a lot of the issues since they were released 6 mos ago.

It seems like it is good for what it was intended for. Again, pbusardo really sold me on it for my first APV. The price helped too, found mine for 45.

After a day with my SiD - I'm not sure if its my battery or the device, but after the battery drops down to about 3.8v the device nolonger works - nothing shows up on the display, pushing the button does nothing. The battery is a cheap BFN 18650 2200 mAh. It comes off the charger at 4.1 or 4.2. Come to think of it, I think its the battery (protected) saying 3.7 on the side.

Also, the device resets to what I would assume is factory settings after taking out the battery and replacing it after it is charged (I only have 1 battery right now, more in the mail, should arrive today!!). From other reviews it seems its supposed to remember your wattage setting and (i think) what mode you were in (vv or vw). I removed and quickly replaced the battery after a full charge and still this behavior exists.

I'm not sure if my SiD is a Legit SiD because it does not have the "SiD" on the battery tube. All of the functions of the control head seem to be the same as other reviewers have showed (aside from removing the battery). The box it came in seems to be the SiD retail box, but I have nothing to compare that too.

I'm still really happy with the device, but I wanted to let others know who may be considering a purchase of one of these. I bought mine from a vendor I had not used before because they had an excellent price. I'm sure if I used my usual vendor (and paid $15 more) I would be much happier with the rubberized version of the SiD.

It has not failed on me - button works 100% of the time. My Kanger Pro Tank Mini 2s and Vivi Nova work well on the SiD. I cannot unscrew my tanks grasping the base of the tank (without removing the beauty ring from the SiD) so I find my self paying close attention to make sure I'm not unscrewing my tank into multiple pieces... (exposing the juice compartment). Hasn't happend yet, but I'll continue to be cautious! :)

I'm still debating the SID. I've got an iTaste vv 3 now, another actually on the way, and love it for what it can do. I love the portable size, easy to carry around at work and the passthrough is great, even though it's not a true passthrough. It does most of what the SID can do, just not as high v/w settings. The battery being 800mAh is an obvious difference.

The madness that is vaping! I started vaping about 2 months ago when I decided analogs needed to go. I've since spent a decent amount of money on batteries (came from a halo triton), to the itaste vv (2nd on the way), tanks, coils and juices. I just can't help but feel I'm still trying to find my place.

I too have spent a lot of money on bats, tank and juice. But I do feel I have found my place (at least for now). I use almost every thing I bought and regret buying very little. You will find your groove soon. And I love the SID, seems much more consistent then my mvp 2.
