Recieved my Smowell DPV-50 a few days ago. Not impressed at all.

Installing the battery, as soon as the bottom cover makes contact the unit turns on. While you are lining it up it's flashing on and off, I had sparks one time. I lined it up, held it tight and hit the menu button 5 times to turn it off while I screwed it down. Removing the battery has the same problem, it turns the unit on as soon as you lose and reestablish contact with the battery cover. With the 2 little screws you need to install or remove, it's impossible not to make and lose contact a few times.

Charging, like my other mods, I always turn the unit off before I plug it into usb power for charging. This unit turns back on as soon as you plug it in. Since it's not recommended, aka comes with a warning not to vape while charging, I'd consider this a safety issue.

One time I was charging, it never finished. Hours passed stuck at 99%. So I removed the battery, put it in another mod and ran it for a while then charged it in that mod (sigelei Mini 30w) and it charged to full. Installed it back in the Smowell, ran it for a while again and charged it. It seemed to charge this time.

IMO this thing is a hazard. I am not impressed at all.

If you don't have charging problems, or need to install / remove a battery, it does work fairly well.

I would never recommend it and was considering sending it back myself.

Welp, you're certainly in good company not liking the Smelly, noway! I'm sure @DPLongo22 will be along later on today with a comment or two of his own. (He got us each one, and I never even saw it, as he sold them nearly instantly!)

I had a car battery blow up on me quite a while back, and it wasn't fun. So I would rather go with caution. Other mods, you install the battery and then turn it on. Not this one.

To address the charging issue there isn't anything wrong with it. It just goes into trickle charge mode to prevent overcharging, ill admit I have a similar mod that the same issues when putting the battery in. My advice leave that battery in there pretty much dedicate it to that device. The risk is to great of it actually causing a hard short at some point.

Sorry, I don't log on here much, so this is a little late.

I didn't send it back, to lazy. I have discharged it and charged it a few times and most of the time it works normal.

I knew when I bought it that it's not the type of mod you would change batteries in frequently, and even my Sigelei the battery never gets removed or swapped.

I'll just be extra cautious if / when I need to replace the battery in it next time.

It does work good and the size is nice.
