I noticed there wasn't a thread on this….I got mine a few weeks ago…my first high end chip in a mod and I love it. The mod is really well made and has a reassuring heft even though its pretty streamlined.

In layman terms, the difference I notice in this one over all my other mods is ….. smoothness.

It is super accurate in terms of reading resistance and delivering power…and that is what I was looking for. Will definitely be looking at getting another one in silver.

I got one of these in black about a week ago and am liking it so far. Got the screen settings and vape parameters sorted out to my liking using escribe. And I have to say, it's a good thing there is escribe to tailor the mod because using the mod's menu via the onboard buttons is very unintuitive (Daniel of DJLsb Vapes' review/tutorial is below- he helped "tune" this mod so if anyone knows how it works...). I feel for folks who don't have easy access to windows (needed to use escribe); mac peeps are OOL w/o some hoop-jumping. The USB cord supplied w/the mod is only 9.5" long so I tossed it for a normal length cord.

Using my settings has the mod running in 'buck' mode where it's naturally more efficient. Battery run time is a little better than what I get from a VTC Mini using the same TC settings and atty resistance. No rattles, batt door fits tight, 510 sits level and works w/all my attys.

Hoping to have a firmware update allowing a vertical screen orientation but not holding my breath, the screen's a little narrow for that- but it could be done. Hoping the rubberized finish is durable over the long haul. So far no probs.

For anyone who hasn't heard, there's an evolv site, not terribly active but it's monitored well so you will get a response fairly quickly.

I had never used a windows comp a week ago….it was a steep learning curve…but luckily I got some help from folks here and busardo's youtube video on the escribe settings.

What is 'buck' mode? I might need to set it if it makes the battery last a bit longer.

Bucking is when the voltage delivered to the atty is lower than the battery charge. Boosting is when the atty needs more voltage than the battery charge. DNA200, and series mods in general, are more efficient as they buck rather than boost.

Any idea how to check if I have the 'buck' setting enabled in escribe?

Is it enabled by default?

Which section of the software would I find it under? So far Ive only tweaked colours and switch timings.
It's not a setting. The chip is a buck/boost chip. The chip will either buck or boost the voltage and do the inverse to the current. It's not something you set.

Cheers,
Steve

i'm loving mine too. i was on the fence about dna mods for a while because of the price. when the sdna appeared for <$50 at ecig that did it. i liked the mod so much i quickly ordered a second one to keep as a spare. my vtc mini is still in rotation as it does a fine job. the sdna does get better battery life than the mini tho, about 15% more puffs.

This mirrors my experience to a 'T'. The only 'glitch' (and it was minor) was, I downloaded the outdated version 1.0.56 of escribe. It worked but lacked some updates (well, duh!). Now that I'm up to speed w/version 1.2 Rev3, it's all golden.

LOL... we've spent weeks (a couple months?) talking up this mod, and especially the ecig deal, but we've done it all in either the HCigar VT75 thread, or the generic DNA75 one... no one bothered to start a dedicated thread. :p

I haven't unboxed my Black, but I use the Red all day, every day.
And it seems it's White beneath the paint. :D

Doesn't bother me as it's just a sliver here and there, like the batt door where the body cut-out exposes it. but I'm wondering... anything similar with the Black or Wood print?

you never go wrong with dna chips.
The latest boards have been good by what I've seen w/my 75, and what I've heard about the others. Now, I have to say the original DNA 40 was no homerun. Nor was it's little 25w bro. Besides their limited ability, for what I paid for those 2 boards alone (co-op prices at that) could today buy an SDNA 75 w/a Evic VTC Mini for a backup! But they did well enough- and the CS was good enough- that people stuck by them and it's paying dividends today.

Does your guy's battery charge to 100% when you charge? Had mine charging over night and it was only at 98% when I took it off the charger.

Two things as far as I can tell the device stops charging at 4.17v and since it doesn't have the "predictor" chip that DNA200 devices its really easy for the display being on to sag the battery down to 98% or 97%.

I don't use the onboard charger- actually disabled it so it doesn't run while I use escribe. But I read HERE:
Battery won’t charge to 100%:
Using the watt hour calculator to guess at a figure will at times result in a number that is actually in excess of the real life figure for the pack. Run battery analyzer to get a correct figure or simply reduce the rating.
Also you can ask HERE for details.

That is based on the DNA 200 and it's pretty good as long as you have a good curve. It's less important on single cell setup. What the DNA 200 does though is that it considers battery charge before or at firing (in case it was at deep sleep) and tries to account for sag and adjusts its expectations after sag subsides to tell you battery power. The DNA 75 doesn't have that ability and while its certainly not Real Time info, what you see on the display is live info. Therefore once it detects a certain point on the voltage it goes down. 4.2 is tops. A usb charge not from escribe will be 4.17 and would still probably be 100% on the curve. But if it's lower than that or sagging much lower than that most curves will have it be below 100%...ie if its charged to 4.17 and the power usage to the display happens to cause a voltage sag to drop to 4.15v that might be 97%.
