Why not explain to your managers that your e-cig is a kind of nicotine replacement therapy that is helping you to give up smoking and explain that it isn't smoke but basicaly steam. ....the fact is there are 'no' laws against vaping and they have no real reason to disallow you to do it.

I've been doing this all week at my desk at work. I don't do it at client sites or in front of patients, it’s just too time consuming to explain it and plus, it doesn’t matter what the truth is when it comes to customers; you simply just don’t take risks like that in my eyes.
After a week of doing this at my desk, one of the other guys in my office caught me. He asked about it, I explained. Now see, MY manager is ok with it, he thinks it's great that I am using this instead of tobacco. However, another manager overheard the conversation and next thing I know, my manager secretly shows me the emails flying back and forth to HR. The other manager is explaining how I am "smoking in the building and it smells awful". My manager is still Ok with it (he is a non-smoker who suffers from severe asthma)
I'm willing to fight for this one for more than one reason. My manager is ok with it ( I filled him in on it before I ever used it at work just to cover my bases) and so are the other people I work with minus this one manager. I've been treated like a second class outcast for years because of smoking; you all know the feeling. Now when I try to do something about it the problem is instantly a visual thing. Everyone admits they can't smell it and after realizing they are only seeing VG vapor, they don't even care about that. In fact, they generally think it’s pretty cool. If any of them kindly asked me to not vape around them, I would comply out of respect even if I disagreed with them technically… they simply don’t know for sure what it is. I get what I want and so do they. But what I refuse to do is fold to idiocy like this, a distant observer with a mission.
Quite honestly, I knew this was going to happen eventually and I welcome the fight. So, take care that you keep on sneaking it unless you are also ready to “take up arms”.

In a way we actually need someone who is willing to be sacked for vaping at work and then take it to an industrial tribunal because you are 'not' doing anything illegal and I can't see how you can be fairly dismissed for doing it at work.

Just a hint... vapor is quite "heavy" compared to analog smoke. Especially VG vapor.. but PG also. Exhaling at the ground helps. Even if it lingers... it doesn't typically RISE... it will just sit down there and people don't generally breathe on the floor or look at the floor. Hope that helps...

Also... certain "flavors" smell more than others. Menthol usually has less smell.

Also... if I get fired for vaping in front of my college class... I will gladly go to court and fight it. Will let ya know what happens. My boss doesn't know yet... and none of my students have complained for fear of a bad grade probably.. but after the semester is over they may and then I will deal with it.

Good for you spikey ....the way I see it we either have to forever sneak around like kids who are doing something naughty or else it's going to have to come to a showdown sooner or later.

I have no problem explaining my e-cigarette to my manager. It'll happen soon enough. The thing is, I don't see the necessity of making an issue of it or drawing attention to myself if by doing so, I represent "our thing" in a negative light.

It's not so much what you do...it's how you do it.

I vaped at a kids basketball game last night. The only flavor I'vecome across that has a strong odor is riskee juice. Otherwise just bring a cup of water from mcdonalds or something and exhale the vapor into the straw down into the water and most of it will dissipate. You could even get 2 straws, cut a slit down the side of one, put your e-cig inside (because it wont fit just pushing it down into the straw) and tape it back up. Then you can inhale through one straw and exhale through the other without anyone having a clue.

I usually vape menthol at work an it is the least detectable. Some of the flavors not only linger in the air,but stay on the body(Coffee, chocolate to name 2).Remember...the longer you hold the in-hale in...the lesser the ex-hale:)The Wiz!
