Hey there guys,
Not even sure if my question is right, but this is my experience

I build a new coil and wicked it. Tastes pretty good.
But when the coil goes cold, like over night or a few hours, and i get back to it and fire it tastes completely different. Like it has totally lost the flavor.

I am using snow wolf 200w on a kangertech sub tank. The coil is 26ga 6 wraps on a 2.5 ID.

Not sure what is causing this. Any suggestions?

p.s: when the coil is cold the build pops when i fire it.

Is it a Kathal or nickel coil?

With my V1 SnowWolf if the mod sat for an extended period of time with a kanthal coil it would revert to Temperature Control mode on it's own. It took around 2 seconds of firing before it realized it was a kanthal coil and would go back to wattage mode, usually resulting in either a weak hit or a burnt taste depending on which tank I was using and what wattage I had set. It wouldn't work right until the 2nd or 3rd puff after that.

If that's the case then there really isn't any solution. You can either live with it or stop using kanthal on the SnowWolf and stick to temperature control coils.

I am using kanthal and it totally sounds like what's happening to me. A weak hit in my case, but still effects the taste. I am losing taste and it never recovers after that initial firing. So you say, get another mod??

I'm not sure I would go that far yet. Take the tank to a vapor shop while the tank is cold. I know it will sort of suck letting the tank sit unused for an hour or two, but it's really the only way to properly test it. Let the tank get cold like it would on your SnowWolf where it would normally lose the flavor. Then take it to a vapor shop and ask them if you can borrow one of their mods to test it. Explain what is going on and they shouldn't have any problems handing one of their mods to you to try it out. Set the same wattage you use at home and see if you get the same result.

If you get the same result then it's not the mod, there is something about your build that is causing it. However, if it works great then you know it's the mod. How you want to handle it from there is your choice. Personally I haven't used a kanthal coil in almost a year, but you may prefer the kanthal to TC wires. That's entirely up to you.

Yeah i guess i have to try it out with various mods and see how it works. If its the mod, i hope there is some fix to the snow wolf itself? or it could be the tank? I am not sure at this point.
Atleast i have a head start and know somebody else had the same issue to. I will try to eliminate the factors one by one and see what comes up.

Thank you!

as far as the flavoring goes yea I experience the same thing. give it a few hits to heat up and fires like new well that is if my coils are not gunked as I am typically lazy to clean them or rewick. it's basically like food. if you eat say a hot pizza vs a cold one the flavors are not the same regardless the ingredients are the flavors are altered due to temp.

yea that sounds weird as in my cases the flavor comes back. as for the popping sound it might be because the tank is flooded at least in my cases they were and to get rid of it I would fire at a high wattage for a few puffs then it will go away. have you tried another tank?

I would suggest trying another tank first as they are cheaper then buying a new mod and at a last resort try a new mod. if anything I would suggest calling a brick and mortar shop and asking if they could possibly help you. test out there tank using your drip tip and mod ( if they have a tanks as some people don't use tanks and use drippers ) then switch off to using there mod and your tank or simply ask a friend that vapes.

I'm not expert but I would assume it is the tank not sure wth is wrong but for the flavor not to recover that seems very weird. if still the same in both cases if you do try it out I would assume the build maybe too much cotton or too little if not wicking fast enough then it would simply burn the cotton in general as that's what used to happen to my old tank with premade coils regardless I primed and tank was full they would always burn off in 2 days at the max even on a low wattage like 20

Hey guys,
Not sure if anyone found a solution for this. But yeah it is indeed the snowwolf mod
I got myself a cloupor t8 and the problem disappeared, same build, same juice, same wick - and no loss of taste even after puffing about 500 puffs. Guess snowwolf is'nt such a wolf after all.

I am running at low voltages on a 28g, 9 wrap, 1.5id. Snowwolf just blasts the coil when its cold and in turn burns the wick. The cloupor however behaves decently.
