So, do batterires lose charge even if not being used?

If you have a lot of 510 batteries don't leave the ones you don't use (spares) fully charged. vape off a little of the charge and store them. They will chemically degrade if stored fully charged for weeks on end.

Self-discharge, day to day, is very low for a Li-ion battery (like the 510).
After a week, you might want to top off before vaping.
