hi guys... so its been 5 days... the first day was kind of rough.. I wasnt sure if I was going to be able to do vape or not... the first hour was horrible... then I went and bought some better juice... ahhhh that was much better but still a little rocky because I was expecting it to be "just like smoking" analogs... but I didnt give give up... then it was the scary though of vaping at work... thank goodness there are alot of people at my work that vape... so here I am at day 5 and I am enjoying vaping much more... need to go get some more flavors after payday... I need some flavors that are smoother I think and not so much throat hit... I just want to thank this forum and the awesome people that are on here that have been so helpful and willing to answer all the questions... hopefully when I am more experienced I can start giving some advice and helping other people out...

you can go to a higher level of VG for a little lighter on the throat hit, lowering the nic helps too, just starting out a good trick to try is a couple levels of nic if too strong drop down a little, then if a bad craving hits go back up to kill it. In general the knot neck clears up after awhile.

Congrats on your five days I always try to tell newbies that vaping is very different from smoking but honestly until one has tried it for themselves its very hard to know what vaping is going to be like.

Remember, don't try to vape like you smoked. The smooth inhales of vaping are very different then smoking a cigarette. Trying new flavors is always fun. You likely wont like all that you try but hopefully you'll quickly find some that make you happy

I'm a noobie as well but it sounds like you have the same taste requirement that I do. If you like vanilla cake, try copper creek house blend.... sooo smooth and yummy that a 120ml is on my to buy list lol

Jeniferc: good work! Congrats to you. Finding a "flavor" I could tolerate was the biggest problem I had when I started out. I was looking for something that tasted like a Marlboro light. All the flavored juice I tried was beyond nasty, not even close to tobacco, unless you wanted something that tasted like an unburned tobacco leave.

So someone suggested unflavored nic so I tried it. And loved it. It is a nice, smooth, bland "smoke" like feeling with no perfumy taste.

I use 24 mg nic in 30 % PG / 70% VG. It may be a little strong for you, maybe not. It comes in weaker and stronger concentrations too. It is MUCH cheaper than buying flavored juice, but I can say that I would use it even if it costs much more than flavored juice. I don't even want to try any other flavor. I am locked on the unflavored! I buy it a Wizard labs. I suggest starting with the 60 ml size (the smallest they sell). It's like $5!

That way you can see if you like the strength, if not, you can buy it in weaker or stronger concentrations. You can also adjust the VG/PG ratio when you order it. More PG = harsher hit. If you go straight VG, it is very thick, that's why I run 30/70.

Once you find the concentration you like, you buy 500 (five hundred) ml for $25! It's the secret juice vendors don't want you to know.

There are a few factors involved. The amount of nicotine in the juice, how much VG is present (more VG means less throat hit), the OHM of the device, the voltage the device is set at, and some juice flavors are simply at little smoother than others.

Also, keeping hydrated should help keep your throat from getting too dry.

And remember, if you ever get any juices you don't like so much, make sure to let them steep awhile.
Put them aside for a week or two and try them again, because you may be surprised at the difference a little steeping can make.
