So I've watched too many videos of people blowing huge vapor clouds out of these new sub ohm tanks. I decided I had to give this sub ohm thing a try, so I bought an Aspire Atlantis.

Now I'm a little lost where to go from here. I do have a VS rDNA 40 ordered that will hopefully be here next week. So I should be set as far as device goes. It's my understanding these tanks generally work best in the 20-30 watt range?

I normally vape Halo Tribeca 24 mg/ml at 15 watts, my understanding is that would be way too strong in something like the Atlantis, correct? Can anyone give some guidelines on what to look for in a sub ohm juice, brands, strength, PG/VG ratios, etc... I been thinking about moving away from tobacco flavors, would like a nice cherry/strawberry without menthol.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Definitely cut your Nic in half at least, I made that mistake and 3 or 4 hits into my first fill on the Atlantis at 27.5 watts and I was on the worst Nic high of my entire vaping career. I have vaped at 12mg for over a year and find that 3 mg on the Atlantis is perfect. I run a 50/50 juice at 25 to 30 watts and find that to be the perfect range for me. Be forewarned though your going to go through a lot of juice.

Follow others advice and soak the coil very well before firing it the first time or you'll burn the coil and everything from that point on will taste burnt. (Ask me how I figured that one out) And as I stated before 25 to 30 watts seems to be the perfect vape for me. I did pull an RDA off one day and put the Atlantis on and hit it with 45 watts because I forgot to turn it down. It worked fine and didn't burn it but I didn't push it either since at that time I was on my only coil since frying the first one the first time I fired the mod.

it was like getting by a robotic donkey on .....

... which is a bad thing, in case you couldn't tell (unless you're into that sort of thing).

Yep - back off the nic, but I'd suggest getting at least a small bottle of you current fav juice so you can better gauge the difference. If you want clouds, upping the VG percentage will help get you there in a big way. The atlantis should be good up to a 80/20 mix or thereabouts - the issue being that VG is harder to supply to the coil.

As for power, try playing in the 25-35 watt range when you get your new VS rDNA. Where in there your sweet spot is will be dependant on a few variables, namely the juice and your personal tastes. At the end of the day, it's your vape, so dial it in as you like.

I agree about cutting the nic in at least half. I made the mistake of vaping 12mg when I got my Atlantis and it had a hell of a throat hit. I now run 6mg in it. As far as power goes all I have is the aspire sub ohm battery so I can't really control that. I see people run them all the way up to 45 watts. Yes you will go through a lot more juice. My consumption has almost doubled.

I run the Atlantis on the VS rDNA 40. 27w seems to be the sweet spot for me and the juice I'm running. 12mg pure menthol, I grab for that when I'm really feening for a kick!!

I would suggest letting the coil sit for a bit with juice and starting lower wattage wise and slowly work up to break it in. I'm still on the first coil after almost 3 weeks!!

I think the others have already covered the nic level. When it comes to flavor though you will want to start at 20w and slowly creep it up 2w at a time until you get the best flavor. It is a matter of personal taste, but I tend to find the savory flavors such as chocolate and nuts come out better closer to 20w and the fruitier flavors start to shine between 26 and 30w. I recommend against going much below 20w because it tends to gunk up your coils very quickly in my experience. I also have run into mostly burnt taste above 35 altho the coil had no issue running briefly at 40w.

So a 50/50 PG/VG mix with 6 mg/ml nicotine sounds like a good starting point?

What are some American made e-liquid brands that would offer something like that in fruit flavors?

I like the 50/50 mix as it seems to be a good balance between wicking, throat hit and vapor production.

As for juice flavors, I get mine mixed locally at a Vape shop in Kansas. The juice Dixie mixes just seems to be a lot cleaner and the coils last a lot longer. I have ordered from Mt Baker which had great flavor but the same ratio PG/VG in the same flavor will plug a coil 4 times faster than the stuff I get locally. My favorite is Salted Caramel but as with any juice with Caramel in the name they clog coils pretty quick. Dixie's salted caramel will last several times longer than Mt Baker's but the flavor is the same.

On my Atlantis I have been running Red Bull at 27.5 watts and 3 weeks later it's still spot on with the sweet snap-crackle-pop of a new coil.

I suggest 6mg juice with high VG, 70VG/30PG is a pretty popular variety.

Tribecca will vape just fine in the ATL ( Thats what im calling it now ) just drop down to 6mg.

Because of the juice consumption I have decided to get the supplies to make my first DIY batch of juice.

Oh by the way... if you like tribecca, you will probably like Jerry Juice from steam vapor. Steamvapor.us

They sell three 120ml jugs of juice for 69$, they sell 70/30 at 6 mgs... I will suggest Jerry juice, Juicy peach and thick vanilla custard... The peach packs a bit of a throat hit though.

My VaporShark came in today and I finally got to try the Atlantis out above 15 watts. 30 watts seems to be where I like it so far, and with this Firebrand Sub-Ohm e-liquid I'm getting good flavor and massive clouds. I'm really happy with it so far, doesn't seem to dry hit even when chain vaping at 30 watts.

Only three complaints with this Atlantis + Firebrand setup: 1. The Atlantis drinks juice at an amazingly high rate. 2. The small tank capacity means I have to fill it fairly often. 3. My wife complains about all the huge clouds of vapor hanging in the air. :)

I've never tried an 80% but hear high VG means muted flavor. Would it be much more muted then let's say a 50/50? Or hardly noticeable?

I'm asking because I'm trying to figure out the right juice for my Atlantis. 12mg nic is perfect for my cravings but the higher PG in a 50/50 is probably going to give me an undesirable throat hit. I'm using a 6mg juice this minute and am craving nic like crazy.

I run high VG (up to 90%) through an Atlantis with zero issues. Flavor and clouds are great with 70%-90%.

You don't need 'special' juice for sub-ohming. Whether I'm running .15 in a Hobo, .5 in an Atlantis or .8 in a Lemo I use the same juices. Don't make things mor complicated than they need to be. Just lower your nicotine WAY down and vape your favorite juice. Sure, you'll get better clouds with higher VG but if you're a flavor junkie, the Atlantis will do you right with your favorite juice.
